WOW WOW WOW. Nothing can prepare you for the experience that is “ La Posada Hotel “ interpretation meaning resting place!! If that is what your looking to do then you have chosen a gem of a Hotel.
Built in 1929 to be the finest in the Southwest at a cost rumoured to be $2 million dollars $40 million today. Why Winslow? At that time Winslow was the Headquarters and hub of the Santa Fe Railway. Designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter already renowned for her buildings at the Grand Canyon, she considered La Posada her masterpiece. During its heyday in the 1930s, the hotel was a favorite destination of the Hollywood jet set.

Today this Hotel should be on everyone’s must stay places. The decor and open spaces are exceptional and a credit to the current owners. Who live in private quarters within the hotel. Add to that a 5* Restaurant with an extensive Menu to entice your tastebuds. My visit was in May 2016 with my Cousin from California. Being from Yorkshire in The United Kingdom it was nice to learn that the Chef was from Halifax. One evening I enjoyed a Bison Braised Steak there’s a 1st time for everything. A little late for the review, but I thought I had already written one, but upon checking hadn’t.
The rooms are beautiful each uniquely decorated, 2 Queen size beds per room as standard, upgrades available to suit all travellers requirements. Outside are magical gardens with seating and running water to add to the peacefulness of this wonderful place. Everything here is a journey of discovery inside and out.
Close by walking distance is the World Famous “ Standing on the Corner Park “ ref
The Jackson Brown track Take it Easy made Famous by The Eagles back in the 70s. Some 20 miles away is the NASA Dedicated Meteor Crater. With terrain that closely resembles what would be found on the moon. You will not be bored.....
In Summary, a unique experience, excellent food and accommodation, pristine Gardens. Add to this wonderful attentive staff, catering for all your needs. It’s a 5* from Me.

Many other visitors have extolled the wonders of this still in renovation iconic Southwestern landmark. Read through them for specific details. But if you have any interest in the Southwest of the 30's and 40's, La Posada shouldn't be missed. The current owners have spent literally millions in renovating this wonderful old hotel. If you go, do not miss the DVD the owner has produced detailing the extensive renovations completed and to be completed. And if you do go, plan to spend some time wandering the open rooms and hallways. It is a fascinating experience to see American architect Mary Colter's masterpiece coming back to life. And it is dog friendly, but with strict understandable rules.

Room Tip: Call the front desk to enquire about rooms, as all are different.

My husband and I planned a vintage car rallye and the first night was at La Posada hotel. We had 26 couples -26 vintage cars. We had a drivers meeting in their ballroom, and dinner Thursday night in the Turquoise room. EVERYONE was just blown away by the food that we had for dinner and then breakfast the following morning. The hotel is easy to deal with and so is the Dining room. Everyone enjoyed their stay. Mike Luther helped us so much with the room reservations and Dennis helped us with the dinner & breakfast. They were super to work with.
It's a great place to stay - we highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Arrange a first floor room if you aren't able to climb stairs.

I can’t say enough about this step back in time, every inch has something to read, something to discover about this time in history. The staff is accommodating, the rooms are comfortable......a must if you travel this way. The town of Winslow is blessed to have this jewel in their midst.

My husband and I love staying here during our trips to visit family. This hotel invites you to relax and enjoy the campus and the building. There are several places to sit and relax, read a book from the many shelves, enjoy looking at the architecture, play a board game from the many on the shelves, chess games are set up on tables, there is an art gallery of Tina Mion works on the premises. This gallery is best viewed at night. We love stolling the grounds, enjoying the plants and the many trains that pass by. There is a very nice gift shop selling local artisan's work. This is a destination hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are unique. Call the front desk with your questions. There is not a bad room in this hotel.
