Located within the iconic and picturesque La Posada Hotel, the Turquoise Room is a destination restaurant itself.

The menu is very creative (the chef offers a cookbook for sale with some of his specialty dishes) and offers something for everyone. It's a delightful setting with great service. Make reservations early - this is a prime spot in Winslow.

Quite expensive ($20 and up for a main course), but for a treat, or if you just crave some properly-cooked vegetables other than coleslaw and salad, like we did, this fits the bill. Large dining room in a well-preserved, historic (1930s) railway hotel, right on the tracks. We had a friendly, very knowledgeable server and the Harvey girls aprons are charming. We shared a starter (stuffed squash blossoms) and had elk steaks and bison short ribs for mains, all of which were in generous portions and very tasty. We had no room for any of the delicious-looking desserts! Together with two glasses of wine and service, our bill came to $123. Worth going a little early to have a look round the hotel and perhaps have an aperitif on the rocking chairs in the back garden.

Part of the La Posada hotel, the food was creative and excellent. My Buffalo rib dinner was delicious. Interesting southwest decor like the hotel. Friendly local staff. Diners have a view over the expansive grounds and can do a little train watching while they eat.

We started with delicious drinks in the bar. The dinner was one highlight after another. Upon the recommendation of Vanessa, our server, we started with the squash blossoms as an appetizer. They were mouth-watering. We feasted on the bison short ribs and the Southwest vegetable platter. Both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The combination of seven different vegetables in a tamale, empanada, flan, etc. were the tastiest I have ever had. The restaurant’s atmosphere was fun and the service was excellent.

Hard to imagine a more delightful dining experience!
