“James Beard Award well deserved”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

This chef of this restaurant is James Beard Award winning, and the restaurant appears on several "Best of" lists, including one of the best restaurants in the U.S., and it is deserved. Truly. Serving southwestern food, this is exactly what I would expect. We were immediately greeted and seated by a gentleman who, throughout our entire meal, was walking the entire restaurant. You could tell he was monitoring not only our meals, but also the service. This type of service gets you five stars and keeps you there. Keep it up!

We ordered the lemonade (homemade, delicious and refreshing), and started with the Signature Soup. I truly cannot find the words to give this soup justice. It was perfect, the hands down best soup I have ever had in my life. A combo of slightly salty bean soup with sweet creamed corn soup. The sweet and salty complement one another perfectly. Do not miss out on this soup.

Our meals were the crispy carnitas and tilapia with mango salsa and fingerling potatoes. The crispy carnitas had excellent flavor, the beans were really delicious, but the star of the plate was the sweet corn tamale. Wow...I could have just eaten this and the soup. I wanted to ask for more! Ask if you can get it on the side or sub one of your sides for it, because you should not miss it. The fish was good, mango salsa good. Fingerling potatoes had a rosy/fruity flavor which was good. Everything on that plate was clean tasting. Truly an outstanding meal.

Our server was attentive and very serious. We did not want for anything. I highly recommend this restaurant and am already trying to plan how we can go back. La Posada (the hotel) is definitely worth a look around. This was a stand out experience of all the restaurants I've ever been to. $55 included a 25% tip for our waitress, our 2 meals, and drinks. There are less expensive options on the menu if you are on a budget and it is definitely possible to have 5 star food for $20 for 2 people for lunch and portion sizes are large enough to share.

“Memorable Meals”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

Excellent restaurant, fine dining. Squash blossoms- Wow! Very casual, kind of overly familiar server, but friendly and nice. The Turquoise Room is part of the overall wonderful La Posada experience- definitely worth the money.

“The Star along I-40”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

Our staff was friendly and our server knew her stuff. Our cocktails were very good and the meal was unique. We started with the may tag blue cheese salad and the piki bread plater, the piki bread plater was the star, We also had the churo lamp sampler, this I would do again. This is the best spot in town, but they are proud of their food and it shows in the price. Our dinner that night was wonderful, but for breakfast we went out in the town to dar's and had a very good simple meal with espresso and enjoyed the local flavor.

The Turquoise Room is located in the La Pasada Hotel and is a little difficult to find, unless you follow the rail road tracks. But, finding it is well worth the effort. I've eaten there twice and plan to go back next weekend with a group of friends. The atmosphere is very relaxing, the service is wonderful, and best is the food is outstanding!! I would expect to find this restaurant in an upper class area, not in Winslow, AZ but surprises do exist. The menu has dishes not found elsewhere and are superior. I bet the Chef could beat out some of the best in NYC.
Besides the restaurant, the hotel has two delightful gift shops with one of a kind gifts.
Stop, enjoy, tell others!

“A Bucket List Must Regadless of Age”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

His cookbook is $175 and John Sharpes dishes makes buying one an easy sell. A breakfast unlike i have ever had with baked eggs smothered in match stick vegeables and a beautiful sauce. Stunning dining room in a hotel with a history that is deep, sad and now exciting and forward-looking.
