The Turquoise Room is located in the La Posada Hotel, just down the street from the famouse "standin' on the corner". Save your appetite for this lovely restaurant because the food and the special cocktails are worth it. Loved the chocolate martini and the restaurant serves special dishes you won't encounter elsewhere.

Fabulous food! This gem is a must stop if you are travelling on I-40 between Flagstaff and Holbrook. It's located in the historic La Posada Hotel which is worth a self guided tour in itself. The food is gourmet southwest cuisine done in a very interesting and tasty way. The servings are not too big and not too small and priced fairly. The menu has something for everything and the desserts are just as wonderful. Oh yeah, and the staff and decorations are top notch too! If you are travelling on I-40, include this in your itinerary even if it is only for a stop for a glass of wine and dessert. They have a limited menu between lunch and dinner so call ahead and check times if you are looking for a full meal.

It had been several years since we had been through Winslow so this refurbished train station was a wonderful surprise for us. What a beautiful and historic place! And be sure you visit the gallery of art by Tina Minon before or after your meal. Fabulous!
Now to the food. My husband's Mexican pork plate was fabulous. My lunch was...a surprise. Based on a rave review in TripAdvisor, I ordered a bread and hummus combo. It is unique to say the least. The local cook pounds the blue corn dough to tissue paper thinness and bakes it on rocks near the coals. It is then wrapped into multi-layer rolls of gossamer sheets. The bread is grey and tastes distinctly of the ashes in which it is cooked. Pieces of the bread literally float in the air. I could see that it was very very labor-intensive to make so I kept an open mind and enjoyed the unique flavor. The hummus was excellent. But I would get something different next time. But, for once, I definitely had room to share a piece of persimmon berry pie with my husband.

Great stop while on a trip. The hotel is outstanding in it's decor and restoration. This restaurant in the hotel continues the Fred Harvey tradition in outstanding food and service. Situated near the train tracks it offers a step back in time.
A tour around the hotel is encouraged before or after a bite to eat in the Turquoise Room to appreciate all the work that has gone into keeping this tradition alive.
As stated earlier the food and service are outstanding. We try to make this a stop any time we are in area.
If you have time, a stay at the hotel is a must!

La Posada and it's restaurant, the Turquoise Room, are must stops for any trip through (or even near!) this part of the country. The former Santa Fe Railroad hotel, designed by Mary Coulter, is a gem that has been only improved by the loving restoration that saved it from the wrecking ball. My stays at the eclectic hotel are always a great excuse to explore the Turquoise Room's wonderful menu and Che Spencer's emphasis on fresh, in season, locally grown produce and meats. You will love the lamb! We actually plan our trips in Arizona to allow us to stay at least one night and enjoy a dinner at the Turquoise Room.
