“I Love the Diner Atmosphere & Good Food”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

This is one of the original Hwy 66 diners & they still serve really good food - Chicken Fried Steak out of this world but Mexican food & salads are good too.

“Average food”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Don't expect fine dining, food was average, service was average. The salad bar is limited with choices, but the staff is friendly

“Quirky place with good food”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

This is an old diner that used to be called The Falcon but it's been sold to a Navajo family who now call it El Falcone. The food was terrific. Good varied menu with lots of Southwestern options and a salad bar. Being vegetarians and going on a road trip is always a challenge but we found lots of options along the beleaguered Route 66. The owner ran the cash register and she had such a GREAT sense of humor about the place, the town, etc. I would definitely return if EVER in Winslow again.

“You Have Better Options in Winslow”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

My family and I stopped there today after a day of hiking in the desert and looking at petroglyphs. We were hungry, and it smelled good. We've been to better looking places, but there were lots of cars there so I usually think that's a good sign.

There seemed to be a lot of local folks there, and I noticed several people giving us the once-over as we walked in; kind of like you'd expect in an out-of-the-way place off the beaten path, not a family diner that's literally right on Route 66. Our party was large, with 5 people, so maybe that's why people stared at us. Anyway, a gentleman quickly and kindly put two tables together for us.

We had to wait long enough for a waitress to show up that we were ready to order everything when she got there. She took our order, and then disappeared for a long, long, long time. When she reappeared, she walked by our table full of empty drinks several times, stopping to say hello to other nearby customers she knew by name. It was about 45 minutes before our food arrived. She did apologize for the delay, but by that time it was pretty clear that the locals were getting good service and the visitors were not. We also had to waive her down to get our check, and then there was nobody at the cash register to check us out.

The food was ok. Just ok. The service was not. Just not.

Now, I understand that you have to take care of your regular customers. But we really felt ignored, especially for a group that dropped almost $70 for sandwiches in a place that has seen its better days. And again I say, when you're right on Route 66, you are obviously angling for some out-of-towners like us. And when you ignore them most of the time and focus only on the regulars, reviews like this one are the result.
