Description: A healthier side to Mexican food, this place does things differently. From Scratch, down home, Mom and Pops Mexican (Sonoran / Chihuaha style) food. This little quaint place, set right on the airstip, is run by a couple and there family. First founded in town with a little taco shop on 2nd street (Hillside taco stand) roughly about 11yrs ago has been a local staple thanks to the locals and tourists alike that come out and support. Everything is fresh with a quite a bit of selections. With a little Salsa bar that you can explore.

“People drive 60 miles to eat here.”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

This place rates a "5" based on the kind of food it has, good homestyle Mexican. Our Garmin took us to the airport, and we just kept going until the road ran out. Exceptionally nice family runs the restaurant. We met mom as we came in the door, and both dad and son waited on us, quite cheerfully. We were their first customers of the day, and got their full attention.

He ordered the chile relleno plate with rice and beans, and I had the guacamole tostada plate with rice and beans. Both were outstanding. It was fun to sample the offerings in the salsa bar, but we liked the salsa best that they brought out with the chips. There was a yummy chopped red onion-cilantro-chili oil concoction that was amazing. Fast service, good sized portions, and good value. They had a number of specials on a list. We didn't try any but were intrigued by the lemon caper salmon. Mom must have quite a repertoire. We posted several photos.

After a short while, a Native American couple came in. We learned that they drive 60 miles regularly for the menudo. We don't have much experience with menudo, but they said it was the best. On our way out, we met a family that had driven in from Flagstaff to eat here. Gee, we only drove over from the nearby laundromat!

“Worth Looking For”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Went because of the reviews and so glad we did. The chicken tacos and guacamole tostada were great! Brother and sister were working and made us feel very welcome.
Small, nothing fancy, but clean.
Good portion sizes.
Follow the airport road and you'll run Into it. Not really that far, but definitely worth it.

“Good Mexican Food”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Now this is a good place to get Mexican food. Unfortunately it is out by the airport, which is south of town, unless you happen to fly in to the cute little local airport.

They have sit down service, and bring you nice, hot fresh chips, and don't even advertise that they do.

The tacos are really good, especially the machaca and carne asada. The corn tortillas are nice and fresh and taste homemade.

There is a wonderful salsa bar with lots of great choices.

The burritos are good here, too.

They may be moving to route 66 soon. Where ever they are, they are good.

“Hidden Treasure #2”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Jamie at Moore's Pawn shop directed us to this airport eatery. It is very good and everyone should come here! Very good service from Father and Son. Very nice people. Quaint atmosphere. Clean facility. Overlooks the airport. Two planes were on the tarmac and pilots inside eating. Large selection on the menu. Loved it! I had chicken quesadilla with guacamole and it was sooooo good! Salsa has a kick. They have a salsa bar and you can try several. One of the best things about Winslow!!!!

The staff was very nice! This is delicious Mexican food. The adobada was very moist and flavorful! Pollo was also great. Definitely worth trying while in town!
