Super 8 Williams East/Grand Canyon Area
Ranked #8 of 30 Hotels in Williams
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We stopped off here for one night in August. We had two rooms which were really decent, clean, everything we needed. Breakfast was a bit busy but plenty of food with donuts and cereals and of course drinks. Great service, $199 for two rooms for one night. A reasonable distance from Grand Canyon if you wanted to drive to it - about 45 miles or so. Go into Williams town though. Its really buzzing in there. We ate before we got there unfortunately as we would have liked to have soaked in some of the atmosphere in town. Great picture opportunity with a Route 66 sign on the side of one of the buildings next to a garage part way down main stree

We spent 2 nights. We usually stop at Super 8, because they have a good breakfast & decent internet & we use our Wyndham Rewards. & The AARP rates are usually the best deal.

The lady at the front desk when we checked in was very friendly & helpful.

We paid about 150 for 2 nights including taxes.

Room Tip: If booking Super 8 use AARP for the best deal & call the 800 number 800 454 3213

Staff were very helpful but a bit detached.
The hotel has the usual facilities with free continental breakfast (cereals, waffles, buns, bread, fruit juices and coffee) The dining area was small and not enough seating for the guests who were at breakfast with us.
The corridor had a strong smell of tobacco but the room was fine. TV with Direct tv, microwave and fridge.
The room itself (2 queens) was reasonable and clean. The bed was a bit soft for me but that's personal choice. Wifi in the room, but annoying as you had to reset the password everytime you used it.
The pool was closed with the cover over.
The hotel was close to the railroad track so you can hear the occasional train.
The cost of around $80 was about right in view of its proximity to the Grand Canyon.
It was ok for a one night stay.

Room Tip: To get a ground floor room you need to call the hotel in advance. They won't do it via online bo...

This motel has a very convenient location off the highway on the way to the Grand Canyon and near Williams. The room was basic and had needed amenities- TV, hairdryer, etc. I liked that the bathroom had a heat lamp and fan (although loud) because few rooms do anymore. The hotel had free breakfast- choices included cereal, make-your-own waffles, toast, danishes, donuts, yogurt, coffee and juice. The town of Williams is cute with a western theme and the area around the hotel was wooded and we were excited to see a deer and two fawn as we pulled in. We pre-paid for the room and checking in and out were quick and easy.

Room Tip: Having a room facing the highway was a bit noisy- I'd request one on the back next time.

Cross Country Road Trip Day 2: We left Econolodge in Buttonwillow, CA early headed for this Super 8, in Williams, AZ on historic Route 66. Not the hotels we normally stay with, but hey, not all hotels have suites or family rooms. (I should also mention this is the most expensive of all the hotels we are staying at for the entire road trip at $125 + tax). After a long day of driving Super 8 came into sight. It's located in a very scenic setting next to a beautiful wooded area. The building and grounds were in good repair and clean! The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful and our "Family room was great." Three queen beds in a very large room w/a table and four chairs, a desk, a large TV, and plenty of dresser space. The only things this room was lacking were a microwave and refrigerator. The room was very clean and well stocked with linens, coffee, and toiletries. If you can squeeze a drive into town into your schedule, DO IT! Route 66 is alive and well in Williams. We had a great time. My only complaint would be to echo what some other reviewers have said about the breakfast area being too small. A second waffle iron would go a long way to speeding things up in the morning!

Room Tip: Request a "Family room" if travelling with older kids.

I can't believe I left behind everything I needed for work, my laptop, scope of work and favorite C.D's!
I didn't even realize it until I returned home and of course, called Super 8 immediately. The office was extremely helpful. They took my belongings to Fed-X in Flagstaff the next morning, packaged it and mailed everything to me, which arrived in perfect condition. This was a life saver and above what most hotels would have done. Thank you Super 8!

Room Tip: From the bottom floor you can hear the people upstairs.

The hotel is conveniently located, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and clean. The only challenge was the limited space and selection for breakfast, as the hotel was very full.

Thank you very much for your nice review. Normally for breakfast, the guests ebb and flow in a way that the breakfast area is not too crowded at any one time. However I do apologize if it was too crowded when you came to breakfast.
