We arrived at dusk, freezing from a 60 mile bike ride in 40 degrees. The owner sent me straight to the room without checking in and told me to turn up the heat and get in a hot shower. The shower was powerful and had as much hot water as I needed.

This 1936 motel has been nicely renovated with a modern bathroom and tv and internet. The furnishings are all up to date and each room has a microwave and fridge. There are also real mugs and bowls. The linens are modern and not so standard hotel, but rather more comfortable and homey.

The rooms were also VERY clean. It is from the 1930's, so don't expect a huge room. However, we did find the value to be huge.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, amazingly clean, management as kind as could be. At two nights for $159 (plus $30 tax), I expected better. $60/night is more appropriate. We discovered the walls are PAPER THIN. Everything going on in adjoining rooms sounded as if it were in our room. That loud. Our German neighbors received cell phone calls with a noisy ring tone at 2am, 3am, 4am... so I was woken up repeatedly from a sound sleep. When they got up at 6am and began talking, it startled me awake. With their headboard against the same wall as mine, their conversation was inches from me.

If you're a really heavy sleeper and don't mind the price, this is the perfect place.

Clean, quiet, friendly, and a great bargain. Rooms are small by U.S. standards, and Europeans may find them spacious. It is clear that the manager/owner takes great effort (and succeeds) to provide a safe, clean, quiet place to sleep and clean up.I wish the larger chains had this consistent level of service and pride. Found it on Trip Advisor. THANK YOU Highlander Motel. THANK YOU Trip Advisor.

Just spent a night here this past Saturday April 12, 2014. It was a great stay. Yes the rooms are small but so what. The beds were super comfy and hot water was great. Desk manager who may be the owner was incredibly nice. This is a great little motel that offers great accommodations at a reasonable price. You CAN'T go wrong staying here...

We recently stayed here and had a positive experience. The owner is fantastic to deal with. He takes complete pride in his hotel. The hotel itself is definitely older but he's completely upgraded all the rooms. Each room has new furniture , new bedding and a renovated shower. Yes, the room is a bit smaller, but that was the era back then. The owner deals with what he can and makes all the available changes. The price, the attitude of the owner completely makes up for a small inconvience of a room being small. Big deal! Not enough to NOT stay here as a few posters were blogging. There is no other motel that's as clean as this and has a owner who would give you the shirt off his back. Coming back in December!
