This was our third year in a row to Williams. We love the area and it is a break in the day when we are traveling 10 hours. We have stayed in some dumps over the last couple years in Williams, and we spent a little bit more money to stay in this place. We were not disappointed. The gals in the front office, Cindy and Audrey were kind, courteous, friendly and very helpful. They were quick yo get us checked in and recommended a couple places to go.
Since we were in on a Saturday, the rate was a little bit higher than i would have liked to spend, but it was a very comfortable room. The bed was just right and it was clean. They even finished polishing the furniture. IT JUST FELT CLEAN. The bathroom was in good condition, and you did not feel like you had to walk around in shoes.
We were in walking distance to what ever you had your heart on. We had 4 people in our party, but the room with 2 queens was the biggest that they had. No big deal. I wished i could have been bigger. The continental breakfast wasn't fancy, but it was good for us. We enjoyed the furniture on the outside of the office to sit and lounge and read. All in all, i would come back here again and would highly recommend this hotel to all.Just see the girls there and they will take care of you.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Arizona 8, it is in the back part of the hotel... extremely quiet.

This was a very nice place. I thought the room was reasonably priced, clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was also pretty good (they had waffles).

I did have a few annoyances though:
Their plumbing sucks so if you try to shower when everyone else is you get a trickle of tepid water.
Every morning the cleaning staff opens your blinds so anyone can see into your room during the day when you are out.

My husband & I really enjoyed our recent visit to Williams, AZ. After doing a lot of research of the area, I was so pleased the reviews backed up the pleasure we found in The Lodge on Route 66. It was so wonderfully decorated, updated and serene. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean & spacious! We appreciated the friendly staff, satisfying continental breakfast and location within walking distance of the train station and several restaurants & shops. We highly recommend this as your lodging destination when in the Williams are! I wish it was a chain so we could stay again elsewhere! Loved it!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Amarillo Suite, since the rest of the lodge was booked. It was so nice, so romantic...

We wanted to get away from LV hades in June and a long weekend in Williams was perfect. The Lodge was everything we hoped for, a revamp of an old school motor lodge, friendly staff and easy walking. Williams is small business friendly, the anti-corporate answer to the sad economy wrought from greed. It's not cheap, but they have done it right. Little touches abound, even down to having an abundance of cups for coffee and water. No signs of extra fees and just enough of something to get you through the night. Our room was small, but the bed was great, everything worked (including the wi-fi) and we slept great. We really liked the Coleman sleeping bag bed cover! If you like McDonald's and reliable corporate sameness, stay somewhere else. If you appreciate people courageous enough to risk an American success these days, look at a vacation in Williams. If breakfast is critical to you, walk down the street to the 66 Diner and order off the menu. We had a great vacation and are returning in October. It's only an hour or so (pretty drive down Oak Creek Canyon) to Sedona and we are saving enough to buy more Arizona wine! (See other reviews...)

Room Tip: Train noise sounds like home to us, it is not an issue.

The rooms were large and fresh, with flat screen TV's. There is a large outdoor area that is covered with a large fireplace and lots of seating. This place is in the best location for all your needs. Lots of shops and restaurants within an easy walk. You are located right on route 66. A great place to base your self to see all the area attraction--Grand Canyon, Oak Creak Canyon and Bearazoina.

Had originally planned to stay in Flagstaff, AZ for our Grand Canyon trip, but did more research and found The Lodge on Route 66. Awesome location, you can walk around the town, many places to eat, grab a cold drink, or just browse the shops. Train station is right across the street, everything is within walking distance. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very quiet considering we were on the main street. Cute pavillion set-up outside, plus outdoors benches at each room, very quaint, very nice. Be prepared though for a very small room, with the bed, and TV stand, the room is full, my husband and I both left with bruised shins from hitting the corners of the bed. Don't be discouraged by this, sure the rooms are small, but they are clean, comfortable, and secure...besides, vacationing @ the Grand Canyon isn't meant to involve staying in your motel room all day.

Room Tip: All rooms have an outside bench to enjoy the morning or evening fresh air. There is also a gas fire...

We stayed at The Lodge On Route 66 for two nights when visiting the Grand Canyon. We were driving from Vegas but didn't want to stay in Grand Canyon National Park so Williams seemed like the perfect location. Firstly, I would say that this is definitely the nicest place to stay in Williams. We walked past a few other places on our way to dinner and they looked dreadful.

Our room was in the corner of the property and away from the road so it was very quiet. The room was very small which we didn't really mind for a two night stay. How much time do you really spend in your motel during a trip to the Grand Canyon anyway? The bed was very comfortable but it was also very high, not ideal when you are vertically challenged. The bathroom was clean and adequate, although a bit dated. The lighting in the room was terrible though. Even with every single lamp on in the room we could barely see! The free wifi worked well. There is a nice gazebo/terrace area which guests are free to use. Yes, it's in the middle of the car park but still nice to have some outside space to enjoy a drink and a sit down.

The staff were friendly and chatty. We heard the receptionist telling some other guests that the owner had purchased the property 10 years earlier. It was derelict and inhabitable. At the time people thought he was crazy but he has renovated the entire property and turned it into the best accommodation in town.

Breakfast was perfectly adequate- waffles, toast, muffins, cereal, fruit etc. An earlier review complained that breakfast wasn't anything special...it's a motel not a B&B. If you want a full cooked breakfast don't stay at a motel!

Overall we were satisfied with our stay at The Lodge but I would say it is on the pricey side for a motel (it cost more than our 5 star 550 sq foot suite in Vegas)! That said, it is the nicest place in town and is the perfect location for driving to the Grand Canyon...that comes at a price.
