Comfort Inn Near Grand Canyon
Ranked #11 of 30 Hotels in Williams
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 3, 2009

We actually chose this Inn based on other Trip Advisor input. Williams, AZ is a bit off the beaten path, quiet and a bit retro, but really relaxing after National Park touristing. The town is easy to negotiate through, very friendly and just makes it easy for weary travelers.
A great place to "headquarter" as you head out to see the sights.
Comfort Inn was just what was needed at the end of the day. The bed was the most comfortable I think I have ever slept in, in my years of travel. Newish decor makes the whole inn feel up to date and very clean. Clean is important. This place was clean.
The rooms were fresh looking, welcoming and nicely appointed.
The front desk personnel were always helpful and had great suggestions. The breakfast lady who attended the free breakfast room was definitely on her game.
Free breakfast is a good way to carb-up for a day of hiking, especially when you can whip up your own waffles! For a really great price, you get a really great stay! Who can beat that??

I have to visit this picturesque town 1-2 times a year. Finding a safe (for unaccompanied female) comfortable and economical hotel has been a challenge. Ths hotel just opened up after being remodeled and turned into a Comfort Inn. The staff was friendly, the beds comfortable and the free breakfast just fine. Will definitely make this my regular Williams place to stay!

We (hubby and two year old) stayed at the Comfort Inn along the historical route 66 and was very pleased. When we first pulled up to the hotel we were very pleased with the exterior of the place. It had ample free parking considering we drove our (HUMMER). We made last minute reservation before arriving the next day through hotel.com and they charged us $90 bucks for two day stay. We arrived at check in on Wednesday 3pm and checked out Friday 11:00am. The hotel was quiet and clean and the free breakfast in the morning was great! Considering we tried a couple dinning spots in town that was medicore.. If you have children I do recommend people to stay here.. Free breakfast consist of coffee, orange juice, cereal and donuts and homemade waffles....

The staff was nice. The only negative would be the door key that was electronic kept locking us out! and we had to go to the front desk about three times to get a new one. They did indicate they were returning back to the CARD KEY.

The room was clean, spacious, and conveniently located on the first floor not too far way from the main entry of the Hotel and we can see outside to the parking lot room our room. The swimming pool and sauna was a nice touch exspecially coming off of a 4 hour drive from las vegas and my two year old had fun playing in the water.

The next time I return to the Grand Canyon I will be staying at the Comfort Inn.. You can pretty much walk to all the restuarants along route 66 conveniently located next to the dollar store and safeway... And, the visiting center is not too far of a walk...

We (family of 5, 3 children under 9) were a little concerned with some of the reviews online but when we arrived on August 2nd,2009 the place had been completely redone. Rooms were extremely clean, fresh carpet, paint, great countertops, nice amenities. Breakfast room was new and very clean. Staff was very pleasant. Could walk to grocery store, restaurants, route 66 Cafe. We did a small hike (4.5miles) up to Big Williams MTN with trailhead only 3/4 mile away from hotel. Great visitor center in Williams. Highly recommend staying. We did Expedia for $109/night which seemed high but was more than competitive with everything else available near the Grand Canyon.

1st night ok, 2nd night up all night listening to stomping from room above us. Finally got back to sleep at 5 am then at 8:15 the vaccuming started. Wasn't happy but they did move us to upstairs room. We were told they had no Wi-fi access, come to find out they did. 3rd night ok, 4th night we sat with 3 different couples who could not get into their rooms because THE KEYS DID NOT WORK. Maintenance guy let the first 2 couples in, left then last couple showed up at midnight. They never did get in to their room. Overall, was not pleased with the stay.

The location is good if you want to stay in the downtown area of Williams (along Route 66). The room we stayed in was on the top of the hotel (attic) , room # 11 that is spacious and has 2 double beds. The insulation isn't very good in the room and since you are on the top floor the room is stuffy and so we had to run the air conditioner (despite the 70 degrees outdoors). I did notice the room across the hall was much smaller but appeared to be cleaner and pleasant looking. We just had bad luck with the room we were given. The water pressure was awful, the wall paper was old and peeling, and ofcourse everything was dusty in the room. It looked like it hadn't been dusty in 6+ months. The cleaning lady did change the sheets upon my request but I had to dust the room myself since we had 2 nights reserved. If you are a light sleeper and like to be pampered this is not the hotel for you.

Since we couldn't find a hotel that had smoking rooms, the clerk at the Days Inn suggested this. I was quoted $89.99 plus tax. What was nice, the East Indian lady clerk gave me a key to check out the room first. I okayed it, simply because I was tired. We checked in and the cost came out to $100 and change!! Anyhow, the room is spacious, but either they need to renovate or are under renovation. But it was not worth the price. There is no clock in the room, nor a coffee pot nor a hairdryer. Although the front lobby is nice, the rooms not so much. My husband had to fix the window curtain, which was stained and icky. It was for one night and that was fine. However, the king size bed was perfect with it's firmness. Check in was fast and check out even faster. The continental breakfast was the normal cereal and bagels with coffee, but no juice. an okay place, but not worth the money.
