Very nice stay. Great service. Part of a package. Rooms clean and comfortable. Food included with package but only OK. Buffet style so some inconsistencies in quality. Town of Williams is unique. Lots of tourist type shopping along a stretch of iconic Route 66. Several galleries as well for local art and handicrafts. Must be quite the attraction in high season (In February much is shut down)

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues try to get a room closer to the central area of the hotel. Distance between "wings" requires a bit of a hike.

Stayed for one night while traveling from Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. Website portrayed luxury hotel, we were excited about the cute pub, pool and hot tub and wifi. Arrived at 10pm after a long day in Grand Canyon. There were about 15 people sleeping on the floor in the lobby for an unknown reason ( perhaps waiting for a train?) and the pub was already closed. Then went to check out the room- dirty and extremely outdated. The tub had ancient soap scum, stain resembling blood on the shower curtain, bathroom wall had water stains and was decaying. Hole in the sheets on one of the double beds, marker on the pillow marking the room reminiscent of hospital or jail. Overall all furniture damaged, stained, outdated tv from 1990. Wifi did not work. Pool and hot tub super gross yellow tinged water with unknown foam on surface. Will not stay here again. Mediocre at best and no where near worth the price.

Thank you for writing about your experience in our hotel at the Grand Canyon Railway. I apologize that your expectations were not realized. I can assure you that your experience is not our standard, and that we will work to improve in this area. I have forwarded your comments to the appropriate management for follow-up, retraining and other steps as needed. I will also discuss the Amtrak passengers using our lobby while waiting for the train. It is possible it was delayed that night.

Thank you again for sharing your comments. It is guest comments, good and bad, that help us improve and keep in touch with what our guests are experiencing.

Our first greeting was NO automatic door on front of hotel, so bringing cart through doors was a chore. Could have had a greeter/door person to at least help. Considering the number of elderly visiting, should have a handicapped entrance. Rooms clean, accommodating and staff nice. Lots of kids running through the halls. Walking distance to Route 66/shopping. Bed just OK. AAA package good with buffets that were not very imaginative.

Through AAA, we bought a last minute package which included lodging in Williams, AZ, lodging at Grand Canyon Village and round trip train transportation from Williams to the GCV. Some meals were also included.
It goes like this:
Stay one night in Williams.
Take train to Grand Canyon Village
Stay one night at Grand Canyon (Mazwik Lodge).
Take train back to Williams.
Stay one more night in Williams.
Arriving at the hotel our first impression was that this is no JW Marriot.
There was trash around the main entrance to the lobby as we walked in.
However, that was the only trash we saw for the rest of our stay.
Checked in to a nicely furnished, clean room on the first floor.
We were in and settled in 20 minutes even thought the front desk was busy.
The staff was friendly and very helpful answering questions.
Free Wi-Fi.
There's a pool and fitness center but we didn't use them so cannot comment.
Xanterra, a private company runs the hotel and railway.
And, they do it right.

We stayed here as part of our 3 day Grand Canyon Rail adventure. The hotel is clean rooms are comfortable. Staff are friendly. The meals in the cafeteria are ok. The hotel pool is indoors and the chlorine smell is VERY strong. My children had to wear goggles as the water hurt their eyes. There is a games room in the hotel but this is video games. The main street is a gem for shopping. We discovered this too late and only had a small amount of time to shop. We would certainly stay here again.
