Our stay was from June 7th to June 10th, 2013. We stayed in room #2396 with 2 queen size beds. The room was very nicely decorated and extremely clean. The mattress was very comfortable with full size pillows. The only fault we could find with this Hotel was that they charged a fee for Wi-Fi service. Conveniently located next door to the train to the South rim of the canyon. The town of Williams is one block from the Hotel, a nice Route 66 town.

Basic hotel room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. My only complaint is that my daughter couldn't enjoy the pool due to overcrowding. Since this was the only activity at the hotel the evenings were quite boring for an 8 year old.

We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids that purchased a 2 day package for 2 nights hotel and train to the Canyon. As another posted mentioned, it was a very costly. We "upgraded" to the newly refurbished rooms, that consisted of cheaply made furniture. I would have liked to have seen the non-refurbished rooms. Asked for a roll away at check in. 5 hours later, the rollaway had still not arrived, so another request was made. Upon check out, I was told there was a $22 balance. I seemed surprised, and the front desk clerk said, I guess they didn’t tell you about the charge for the rollaway, which she was correct, I was not informed of the charge. Water pressure from the shower was like a garden hose. The room was clean which is always good! The pool which is small for the size of the hotel. The water was cold and the kids didn’t spend too much time in the water. The smell of chlorine was overwhelming as soon as you opened the door to the pool. We had to breakfast buffet the morning of the train ride, which was costly. Ate breakfast the next morning at a Williams restaurant and was just as good and less money. Kids enjoyed the train and our PSA Kathy was very informative and made the 2 ½ train ride entertaining. Went to Spencers one evening for drinks and the staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed and understaffed. I would guess they would have the occupancy information from the hotel and should have staffed accordingly.

We arrived @ The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel about one hour before check in time. The hotel staff was very nice and let us check in early. The package we bought included a One night stay for two Adults : 2- Dinner Meal Tickets and 2- Breakfast Meal Tickets and 1st Class Dome Train Ride to the canyon and back. costing $ 583.00. The Food was OK not very tasty, very bland. The Hotel was very clean But , we had no microwave or fridge in our room. The water pressure was very low, which means taking a shower SUCKED......... I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. I Would Highly recommend looking somewhere else to stay. The Train Ride was a very relaxing trip up to the canyon and back. Our PSA (Public Service Attendant) was very nice and helpful. Of course everything on the train is CASH ONLY for a reason .The entertainment on the train was OK until you realized they were performing for tips. Then when headed back on the train they have a Staged Train Robbery -Expecting you once again to get into your wallet
and pay out some cash to the Robbers. Over All It is a very Expensive Experience which will not ever be guilty of doing again. If you want a better experience I would stay somewhere else and just Drive to the canyon. Live and Learn

Thank you for taking the time to send your comments about the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel. I am glad to hear that you were able to check in early and that the room was clean. The shower heads are low flow heads to conserve water in what is essentially a desert. But, they should work well and I have not noticed them being uncomfortably slow. I will advise the rooms department.

We are working to upgrade the menu options in our newly renovated restaurant. I can assure you we will continue to work to improve. The cash-only option on the train is not so that tipping is easier, nor are gratuities required. The Cataract Creek Gang entertains guests in the morning, the Marshall rides the train and entertains, and the robbery provides the opportunity to reward the cowboys for the entertainment, photo ops, and fun they have helped provide. The musicians also provide entertainment, and the PSAs offer information to make the Grand Canyon experience the best it can be. Tipping is optional and should only occur in appreciation for their efforts. We are evaluating the entertainment on the train and have found that the cowboys are indeed a popular part of the overall experience. We are evaluating accepting credit cards on the train, with new technologies making this possible.

The overall guest experience is very important to us and we will continue to work to improve in all areas. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us and others.

Wonderful place to stay. Clean large rooms, friendly staff. Nice restaurant with buffet style meals. Took the train from there to Grand Canyon and it was a wonderful way to get there. They took care of all your luggage from there to the Maswick Lodge which was part of the package we got and it was worth every penny. Would recommend to anyone wanting to spend a couple days at the Grand Canyon.
