History buffs and people who are interested in ghost towns and mining will LOVE this tour but even if you aren't into that you will still find this to be a great experience with fun, knowledgable great guides who know the area and the mine very well! I highly recommend this tour!

Lots of things to look at. Old town feel. Beautiful views and picturesque scenes. Friendly people running the show. All in all a good time. A little humorous as they had mock graves with silly names but historical points.

“This tour is unlike other mine tours”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2012

The Vulture Gold Mine is now open for tours with excellent, knowledgeable guides. The mine itself will open again-most likely in 2014 and the mine geologists believe that there is still about 75% of the total gold in this area left to be mined. You could call The Vulture Mine a ghost town: it is hard to believe that this area once had over 5,000 residents; a post office; and school. The joint efforts of the new mine owner and Wickenburg historic preservationists have made this tour an outstanding opportunity to view and understand life in a mine town as well as the risks the miners faced daily in working the land. The tour is currently $10 and is 2 1/2 hours-leaving at 8 in the morning-a good, cool time of the day: be sure to bring water! Guiding by professional engineers and geologists is outstanding: friendly, take any number of questions and take special interest in 'young miners.' An interesting thing I learned: even the sedimentary rock in the mine area has gold-amazing!!

“Tour the Richest gold mine find in Az”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2012

I recently took a Guided tour of The Vulture Mine outside of Wickenburg, AZ. I had done this tour several times in the past when the former owners let your wander the area unguided for a fee. Interesting but not very informative. But recently purchased by an American company who seem to have an interest in preserving the history of the west, are giving ONCE a day Guided tours. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable on mining and on the original town. She had photos of how it used to be in its heyday for comparison. She even took us into the Glory Hole and showed us how different mining then was to how it is done now. Also got to "smell" a newly found shaft as it breathed. Fasinating experience. Highly recommend the tour. The new owner is going to be re-opening the mine for production and that should make the tour even more inviting in the future. Learned so much!
