What an awesome tour. I was fortunate to arrive for the first general tour on a Monday morning, and I was the only one! Go early is my advice.

My tour guide Bill was great - knowledgeable, informative, and friendly. The formations inside the caves are amazing, both in geological history and photographically. Throughout the tour Bill identified specific landmarks and described their creation and shared many entertaining stories about the history of the caves, from Native Americans to bandits, from movies to weddings.

There are a few places that are narrow, but for the most part the general tour is not claustrophobic at all. There is plenty of light and handrails everywhere.

There are additional tours for the more daring and athletic, and you can actually climb on one of the tours.

Will definitely go on this tour again when i return to Tucson. Great for kids, and a cool way to escape the hot sun for an hour or so!

A nice place to visit. Their trails are poorly marked. The basic cave tour is pretty basic, I agree the group size should be smaller for hearing the guide. The location & scenery of the place is almost the best part.

We drove out to the La Posta Quemada Ranch located at Colossal Cave Mtn Park and found the living conditions for the animals out there completely disgusting. There are too many animals in each corral and some of the corrals have so much standing water the horses and donkeys were not able to stand on dry ground. The manure is so thick that I don't think the corrals are ever cleaned out. There is no shade for the animals either and the desert temperatures frequently exceed 100 degrees in the summer. We were going go for a horse ride but instead immediately left because we do not wish to support this kind of treatment toward any animals. Unless this ranch cleans it's act up, we will never recommend this ranch to any of our friends.

We took our niece and nephew on the basic cave tour. We all have had cave tours before and wanted to add this to our list. The drive to the cave was stunning even though we live in the state the views were beautiful. The cave is easy to reach as long as you follow the directions or road signs. The parking is simple and with a few stairs you are at a well appointed outdoor patio area with a gift shop. Once we checked in we had a few minutes to enjoy the cool clean air and pretty views across the desert. The tour was given by a young college student who is still learning the art of tour guides. Although he was young, he connected well with the people on the tour. The cave has a fantastic history worth hearing. Also, the cave has bats living in it so the smell of poop was horrible the first five minutes, but our tour guide schooled us on all of that. Not a deal breaker for going back. This cave offers multiple tours and is nothing like other tours I have taken of a cave. Well worth the travel time, reservations, and smell of bat poop!

This was my husband and I first caving experience and I must say we were in awe at the formations in the cave. We took the basic tour, however, there are other options. There is so much history behind this cave, and our tour guide was both informative and hilarious. This was definitely a great experience!

Great to hear your first time caving was exciting and you enjoyed it, might consider trying the ladder tour next and starting on the adventure tour side of caving.
