My husband and I stayed in the motel section of the hotel. We had no problems at all. The hotel was clean and perfect after an exhausting day at the Grand Canyon. Side note... No blow dryer. I would recommend this hotel/motel to others and don't be worried if you are in the motel section.

Corteous check-in, clean ,non smelling room, just as the pictures showed in ads, perfect place for just a hotel room. Several eateries near by....would stay again there anytime. We left some clothes behind and they shipped to us no problems, must add safe and HONEST place.

My family stayed here while visiting the Grand Canyon. The Red Feather is located about a 10 minute drive from the South Rim Visitor's Center, so it's in a terrific spot if you don't want to stay in the Park. We paid about $125 a night and were put in the motel portion of the hotel, which is the older portion. It's 2 levels, like an old-school motel, with your door being to the outside.

We were there during spring break and felt lucky to get a room (we'd reserved). The check in staff was efficient even though there were super busy even at 9pm.

They have renovated the rooms in the motel portion. Our room was quite clean, comfortable, and had Bath & Body Works soaps/shampoos. The beds were comfy, the pillows were comfy - the room itself was all great.

The negatives: they put the non-smoking people next to smoking rooms and the outdoor smokers "butt receptacle," so when people went outside to smoke, they were standing next to our room and the smoke would be drawn in through a/c unit. As a result, our room smelled like cigarette smoke.

While they do offer free Wi-Fi, it stinks (at least in the motel room we were in). Connection would drop or not connect at all. So don't be relying on it for anything.

Also - and this is important!! - if you stay here in the motel portion, make sure you get a 2ND FLOOR ROOM. We were put on the 1st floor, and all we listened to all night long were the people above us walking around. The floors creaked like a 100 year old house. It was terrible. And since you're at the Grand Canyon, people are up at like 5am to get to the park for sunrise. And when people above you get up at 5am and are walking on a creaky floor, you're up and awake at 5am as well!! It was horrible.

Also - no breakfast. Not a huge thing, and I'm sure they don't because they have so many rooms & guests it would not be financially smart. But it is of note nowadays, when so many other hotels at least offer pastries and juice/coffee.

Room Tip: 2nd floor if you're in the motel portion!!!!

This motel charged my credit card a $40 incidental charge. Upon calling about this today I was told first, "You weren't charged (ah...yes I was...I am looking at it). Then, "You should have been told that is done, and we are not holding your money, your bank is." (Obviously this is not the first call they have received).

Farewell forever, Red Feather Lodge - I prefer making sure guests are told of weird policies if you are going to have them instead of things like continental breakfasts and reasonable rates.

This is just another average roadside hotel/motel which is not necessarily bad but neither memorable nor special. The price is what one expects for the location and you are not paying for quality. The room was clean and nice and I have no complaints there. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door which is a bonus, especially as you can use the hotel wifi there. The bed was comfy and I was well rested the following day. What more can you ask for in a motel.
