The informational and historical film in the main center is very well done. There are ranger presentations for kids and adults. We happened to be there when a female elk and her youngster literally wandered into the visitor center. Tourists tried to hug it and eventually got kicked. The grounds are immaculate and there is plenty to learn at every turn. It is an afternoon by itself.

My family and I parked our car here which is literally the first stop in the park, then we got the free shuttle to the village which was much easier as parking is so difficult there. It is quite interesting to find out a bit about the park, have a look at a map and there is a gift store.

The visitor center is located near Mather Point, which is the iconic view from the South Rim of the canyon. The information center is well-staffed, and provides all you need to know about the park. The 25 minute film shown every half hour is worth the time. A good taking off point for the Grand Canyon Park

Get your map and let them tell you what to do. They have the knowledge and are willing to share. There is no better way to start your visit and make the best of it.
