We stayed for 2 nights while visiting the Grand Canyon. It was very close to the park, less than 10 minutes from the parking lot to the rim. There are not many lodging options in Tusayan, and the next closest town is Williams which is about 60 minutes away. The hotel looks good from the parking lot and lobby, but once you get into the hallways and room, it shows it's wear. The carpets are worn and stained, the bed linens were threadbare and pilling. The room could have been cleaner as I found hair on the bathroom floor. The pool and hot tub area was nothing special, very plain and rundown looking, and the hot tub wasn't hot, just warm. We stayed on the first floor, had a great view on a stone retention wall and parking and could hear doors slamming in the hall and footsteps upstairs. We were at the end of the hall, and used the side door to get in and out, which had a broken lock and barely latched to stay closed. We had wanted a room on a higher floor, and was called around 4pm to let us know our room was available, it was at this time we asked for a high floor. The person told us the rooms were pre-assigned and they were full, and when we asked if he could switch it with someone who hadn't checked in yet he said he'd try, but we still ended up on first floor. I didn't venture into the restaurant, (mostly because of the bad reviews) and the gift shop is overpriced. We paid close to $200/night, which is average in the town, as the choices are limited. Even so, it wasn't worth the price. Everything in this town is overpriced, but because of it's convenience, it's expected. I would try another hotel in town before I stayed here again.

The Grand Hotel is in a great location and charges for it. I overheard the clerk telling someone a room that night would be $309!. This is not a 5 star hotel by any standards. The Grand has a very nice facade. However, once in the doors the hotel takes on a very different look. The service was off-hand and frustrating. We arrived around 1.30 and were told the room wasn't cleaned yet. We checked back around 2.30 still not ready. Ultimately, we couldn't get into the room until 4.00 (the guaranteed check in time apparently). There may have been some kind of water leakage issue in our hallway because they had blowers going when we checked in. One of my main peeves with the hotel was the fact the side door lock didn't work and anyone could just walk in and out of the hotel! Basic security in this day and age should be a given. The restaurant was cavernous, the food fairly pricey and pretty mediocre. The steak however, was done to perfection.

We were told that soon there would be a major facelift and renovations to this hotel and I surely hope so. It is a perfect location, just outside the Grand Canyon National Park, but the hotel suffers from neglect: it is dirty and forlorn. The bed quality is terrible as it sagged in the middle. The restaurant did have good-to-great food and two excellent performers. A definite plus. This was a highlight. No one who worked in the hotel or restaurant seemed happy or pleased about their employment and it showed.

The location of this hotel is great and that's where they charge the rates they do. The beds were horrible and the pillows felt like rocks from the cliff sides of the Canyon. The rooms are far from soundproof - can hear doors anging all night long Most of the staff is subpar at best. The indoor pool is bizarre should be located outside. Spa is cold . Thank goodness the majestic of the Grand Canyons make up for everything else.

The hotel is dated and in need of upgrading...but it was clean and very friendly. I was also impressed that it was quiet. I did not sleep well because the pillows were lumpy and synthetic and the sheets rough and in dire need of replacement. The gym is small but functional. No windows. No valet and no bell boy. Good bar/restaraunt with live entertainment, which is always good.
