“Great choice for families!”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

Recently stayed for 2 nights while on tour of Southwest. The people who work here(from front desk to housekeeping to staff at bowling alley) were all wonderful, helpful and friendly. Smiling faces everywhere and always ready to assist. Our room (in building 5, facing pool) was spacious, even with the rollaway bed we required. Everything was very clean and fresh-smelling, beds were super comfy. Good wifi with strong signal.

Huge breakfast buffet was always crowded, but we never had a problem finding a table. Lots of choices to please all tastes (cereals, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, donuts, etc.) Not gourmet fare, but perfect for families to fuel up before they start they day exploring the Grand Canyon.

Close to the "main drag" (not much more than one street) where you can find all kinds of places to eat (pizza, Mexican, steak houses).

Traveling with our college aged kids, we were happy (and surprised) at how much we all enjoyed the game room (pool competition!) and big ball bowling alley on site. Nice to have something else to do at night and "unplug" and get away from screens for awhile.

Price was quite reasonable considering location, size of room, complimentary breakfast and the friendly staff!

Very close to airport where the scenic helicopter tours depart. We did a helicopter tour one morning and it was one of the trip's highlights! The hotel also had a nice gift shop/snack store which was convenient when we needed a few things. The Southwestern decor was cool and gave the hotel a nicer vibe than you would expect from a typical chain hotel.

Thumbs up! Nice place and kudos to employees!

Room Tip: Building 5, near pool, was convenient and quiet!!! We had little kids down the hall from us and only...

Dear cocoajean,
We sincerely appreciate that you selected our Premier hotel for your families vacation.

We are glad that you found your room to be clean and fresh smelling and your beds to be comfortable. Also, thank you for acknowledging our staff as wonderful helpful and friendly. We do strive to ensure that all of our guests are well taken care of and comfortable during their stay with us.

You are correct that the breakfast buffet provides alot of choices so families can fill up before setting out for a day of hiking at the Grand Canyon. Also, for the evenings entertainment, the arcade, pool tables and bowling alley are a nice way to wind down at the end of the day.

Thank you again for staying with us and thank you for your recommendation. We welcome your family back at any time.

Best regards,
Heather

We arrived to find three elk grazing in the front lawn of the hotel. Terrific photo op! We were so close to restaurants and the Grand Canyon Park, it just was amazing. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Like a recent poster, I wonder if I stayed in the same hotel that everyone is raving about as my experience was different. We didn't stay in the main building and instead were in a side building where the security door (right next to our room) was propped open all day. I didn't feel that I or my belongings were particularly safe there. Room was dated and nothing special. Breakfast buffet was very nice, but large round tables made seating a twosome an awkward experience as we had to invite ourselves to join another group. Some varied seating options would be preferable. Hotel is expensive for what you get, but that's the name of the game outside GCNP.

Dear colias_eurytheme,
We appreciate you writing and posting your comments regarding your recent visit to our hotel.

On behalf of the entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Although you stayed in one of our outer buildings and not within the main building, all of our hotels amenities are available to all guests. As you know we are located in a quiet and remote area and I can assure you that we have not experienced any security concerns on our property.

We appreciate that you liked the breakfast offerings at the complimentary breakfast buffet and we appreciate your recommendations with regards to providing other seating options for our guests. I will be glad to pass along your comments to our Food and Beverage Director.

Again, thank you for staying with us.

Best regards,
Heather

You couldn't ask for an easier way to get into Grand Canyon National Park. Purchasing your park entrance right there at the hotel with shuttle serve is brilliant! Nice clean rooms, comfortable bed, great showers. LOVE the Keurig.

We stayed here two nights, and enjoyed it very much. The town of Tusayan is only two miles from the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park, so of course that is the big draw to this area. The whole town is hotels, restaurants, shopping, and gas stations. The Park encourages you to take the shuttle bus from town, thus reducing the parking problems in the Park. There is a shuttle stop right outside the hotel, which is very convenient. We took advantage of it, and found the buses very organized, although sometimes crowded. The property is in several buildings, so it is pretty spread out. Our room was in the corner of a single story building, we were able to park right outside our door. Our room was clean and comfortable and spacious. The A/C is a little different, the fan never cycles off, we finally just turned it off at night. The main building has wonderful southwestern decor, bronzes, water features, artwork, a cowboy display. The downstairs area has a bowling alley, pool room and arcade, along with a sports bar. There was a couple of other restaurants, we ate at the Canyon Room, the food was good but unremarkable. The check in staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of flowers on the grounds, and even some real grass (we thought that was unusual for this area, after so much red rock everywhere!) There is a nice gift shop. The breakfast was really amazing! We were here two nights, we did not get to eat the first morning as we were trying to see the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. But the next morning we went, and were so impressed. The presentation is like a cafeteria line, with trays, and real dishes and silverware. Lots of choices of food, and all fresh, colorful fruit, hot choices, french toast, pastries. The hot items were hot, and the cold items were cold! A lady came around refilling your coffee. The room was really big, with lots of tables, some 6 foot round ones. It was very well done and delicious! You are a captive audience in Tusayan, we would definitely recommend this property.

Dear sbk117,
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough review of our property.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As you mention, we are located just minutes away from the south rim of the Grand Canyon. This allows guests to take the shuttle bus out early and spend the day at the park, return for an early dinner, and still make it back for the sunset at the park again. Whatever you chose to do, everything is close by allowing you the opportunity to do many things within your day(s) here.

We appreciate that you found your room to be clean and comfortable and that you enjoyed the wide variety offered on our complimentary breakfast buffet.

We do hope that you will consider returning again soon, we would love to have to visit us again.

Best regards,
Heather

On June 14th after a harrowing hours locked out of my car and a dead cell phone I was rescued by a gentleman who was able to get me back on the road. I made it to this Best Western. There I was welcomed by the staff with open arms. Early next morning I awoke very shaken and frightened, I called the front desk and the person listened to my broken speech and determined that I probably had low electrolytes and sent me Gatorade, after drinking I felt much better. Through out my stay everyone on the staff was there to help me in every way possible. Thanks to all!!

The main appeal of the hotel is its proximity to the Grand Canyon. A park shuttle bus picks up outside the hotel's front door. For this privilege, you pay much more than you would at similar hotles elsewhere, or even for staying in the park if you are able to find a room. Our room was clean and everything worked well. Wifi was strong everywhere. The breakfast area is large and has many options. We used the guest laundry and there were 4 washers and 4 dryers which worked well. If rates were not so hi, would be a great place to stay.
