“Very good hotel close to the Grand Canyon”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

My girlfriend accomonied me on a business trip to northern Arizona with a side trip to the Grand Canyon. This Best Western had a reasonable rate. We had a large room with a king bed and large garden tub for soaking which she loved. The room was fairly quite and located in the main building of the hotel. Everything was clean. The shower head was a bit loose. The free breakfast in the morning leaves alot to be desired. The french toast was extremely dried out and the eggs tasted terrible. This is only the 2nd Best Western I have stayed at and the breakfast was just as poor as the first one, something they need to work on. Overall a very good experience except for the breakfast.

Stayed here for one night on and was very impressed with the quality & size of the room.

I had a really good best steak dinner in the restaurant and the breakfast buffet was very good.

The only slightly quirky thing is that the when you are in the lift, the reception lobby is on the 1st floor not the ground! There is an interesting display cabinet in the lobbly and a gift shop.

Good value for money

Dear maljsy,
Thank you for staying with us this past November on your recent trip to the Grand Canyon. We are happy that you and your friends enjoyed your stay! I appreciate your comment regarding the elevator - our Hotel is built on a hill and thus the entries are on different floors depending on your location. We do have our quirks with our locations and building plans. I will also pass your comments regarding your steak to our chef. I am so glad that you had a chance to look at our displays of the area around the lobby and pictures throughout the Hotel.
Wishing you a wonderful Holiday season,
Heather

Had booked a standard king, but upon arrival, discovered it was not in main bldg, and quite small, & wing it was on was very dark. We upgraded to deluxe dbl queen in main lodge, which was really nice. It also had an extra sink & vanity area, as well as a soaking tub. Only things I didn't like were I never could find the ice machine or vending area on 3rd floor, so I gave up & went w/o ice, & the bathroom floor could have been cleaner. The breakfast was great -- don't know why they don't advertise it as "full" instead of just "continental", because it's a buffett w/lots of hot & cold items. This was a super deal at off-season prices, & the staff were friendly & helpful.

We stayed at the BW-Grand Canyon Squire Inn over the 4th of July holiday. We anticipated crowds and craziness with the shuttle bus and airport traffic. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel's location. Somehow the local pines and flora kept the noise minimal, making us feel like we were in our own private bed and breakfast.

Our room was on the first floor of a building that was apart from the main building, so we had a short walk across the parking lot to the breakfast buffet. The trip was more than worth it since the offerings were abundant and tasted freshly prepared. I cannot overstate freshness; we had a choice of at least 3 melons, oranges, and strawberries every morning!

We found out firsthand that the helicopter traffic was NOT a big deal. Those type of tours were plentiful during the holiday week, but the only ones we actually heard were during early dinnertime, blending in with shuttle buses, excited children and other normal activities.

Our room was neat, clean, and well-serviced. The room/groundskeeping service was excellent and hardly noticeable. A big plus for us was a front curb seat to the Independence Day parade!

So, based on room/food/service quality and location, we would definitely return and recommend this hotel to our friends/family!

Dear Jane R,
Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us this past 4th of July. We hope you enjoyed your visit to the Grand Canyon and happy that you took advantage of the shuttle buses the park provides. I am also pleased that you enjoyed our location and our beautiful surroundings. I will also pass your comments regarding our staff on to our housekeeping and maintenance teams. Our Independence Day parade is a big event for our town and for the Hotel - in fact our Hotel won the most spirit award for our float. We hope you return again in the future!

I normally opt for Hilton or Marriott properties. But couldn't find any close to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The hotel itself was okay, nothing special but not bad either. Looking at the other hotels in this area, the Best Western is certainly in the top 2. The room was clean and comfortable. They layout of the hotel is unusual, with separate buildings/structures.

We stayed in a building immediately next to the main building on the second floor. After several minutes of searching,we could not locate an elevator. Troubling as we had 2 large pieces of luggage that we had to drag up the stairs. Once we reached our room, we called the front desk, thinking we just missed it. Not the case, no elevator in this building. This will certainly give an idea of the age of this particular hotel.

The hotel has a bowling center and an arcade. We didn't use any of these facilities so I cannot comment. We did eat the included breakfast. It was about what you would expect. Cereals, fruit, sausage, bacon, canned gravy, sub par eggs, hard biscuits. If you want to save a few dollars, eat at the hotel. Otherwise, McDonald's would be a better alternative.

This hotel is certainly average. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a 4 star hotel in this area, you are not in luck. I would probably try the Red Feather Inn next time, but would stay at the Best Western if the Red Feather was not available.

Room Tip: Request the first floor!!!!

A really great hotel! Although it's only a 3* we were only here two nights and had a great time. The rooms were large and comfortable, if basic, and the food in the breakfast buffet was surprisingly tasty! The lobby area and pool were really nice, and the hotel was only a short drive from the entrance to Grand Canyon National Park. A standard Best Western - no faults, especially with what you're paying.

we could only get the small king bed room, however it was fine. We were trying to stay thanksgiving weekend, but it was all booked so we stayed Fri, Sat. The trip was to get sunrise and sunset photos of the Grand Canyon. Which was just down the road
The room was quite and cozy with a mini fridge microwave and coffee maker. there was a breakfast included which was a nice extra. staff friendly, would stay again
