Definitely the place to stay when going to the grand canyon. Beautiful hotel, meals were very good, free outstanding breakfast. Parking at the south rim is nuts. We bought our park pass from the concierge and that entitled you to a free shuttle to and from the park. Shuttle stops right in front of the hotel. Takes you to the other shuttles in the park. We walked the paths and took the shuttles to the distant areas. We went early in the am, returned to hotel for afternoon rest and went back at night. Hotel is. Walking distance to restaurants if you want and a couple if pizza places.

Room Tip: Check in is after 4. Great shuttle service

As stated in previous reviews, the location is convenient. We stayed in building 3000, which was in very poor condition. The room size was cramped and small. At $215 a night, it was a high price for a below average hotel. We have stayed in other better hotel chains for half the price. The 1st floor of the building had a bad odor. Only stay here when you have no other choice near the Grand Canyon - the picture on the website is deceptive!

Room Tip: Stay in the main building not building 3000

Dear Guest,

Let me start by thanking you for writing a review regarding your stay at the Best western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn. I will have to respectfully disagree with you that our hotel is poorly maintained. The size of the room you stay in depends simply on the type of room you book. The photos on our website captivate our rooms as they are. There is no doctoring of our photos. If you prefer a larger room, I would humbly suggest trying a deluxe room located in the main building on your next stay. Thank you for choosing Best Western.

We stayed at this hotel right before the Memorial Day weekend 2012. Our first night was a total nightmare. We were unable to sleep at all as we kept rolling into each other!!! Upon checking the mattress the next day we notice that the bed was sagging badly in the middle ( we have pictures). Unfortunately to make matters worse my partner was 5 months pregnant at the time and could not even move her back the next day... which definitely ruined her whole next day (of vacation!). Hence that morning we complained and asked that the hotel took care of this issue as it was unacceptable for a hotel to have a broken bed, especially at the hefty price of $230/night. We had to repeat the complaint another 2 times that day until finally in the evening they moved us to a different room. The second room was more comfortable but most definitely in our opinion still not worth the high price tag we paid, the beds were still old and saggy but not so much that we rolled into each other, so since we actually were able to sleep this time we were fine with that. At check out we asked to speak to the manager as we expected the hotel to take care of the inconvenience we had gone through and she explained that if it was up to her she would give us a discount immediately but that her hands were tied and there was nothing she could do about it because we had booked with Kayak and we would have to get the refund from them and that she would make sure to put it in the notes in the computer to give us a discount. At this point we asked that she gave us a copy of her notes for our records but strangely enough she claimed that it was not possible... (at this point we should have been suspicious but since we were at Best Western, a well known company, we chose to trust her...). So as soon as we left we got on the phone and called Kayak. Kayak's response at that point was that we needed to call back after Memorial Day as their offices were closed until then. So we did. We called back after the holiday and were told by Kayak that they had to get in touch with the hotels refund office and get approval and that we had to call back. So we did, we called back the next day. This time Kayak had to get in touch with the manager who had put in the complaint and we were asked again to call back. So we called back again. Now the manager was in a meeting and would call us back as soon as she got out... Well, she never did. We waited several days and after NEVER getting a call back from Best Western or Kayak decided to put in a complaint with Amex and stopped the payment. About a month and a half later we received a letter from Amex where it was explained why our complaint was DENIED. The reason was that Kayak had claimed that we never put in a complaint with them and the hotel manager's notes (flat out lying about our conversation) stated that since we spent the second night there and we were happy with that room that she had explained to us that she was not going to give us a discount... Clearly not reflecting anything that was said in our conversation. Also we are not sure how spending the second night there makes it acceptable for our first night to be charged full price!?!?... Anyhow we intend to take matters seriously and put in an official complaint against this manager and have reopened the case with Amex... regardless of how things will end we thought we should let people know what they are in for with this hotel, should they ever experience any issues or have any expectations of a good night sleep. In addition, to make matters worse (and this should be noted by anyone who is planning to use the internet in this hotel) the entire time we were there we were completely unable to use the WIFI internet as there was barely ANY CONNECTION. Once we complained about this issue we discovered that the hotel was well aware of this problem and that it is an ongoing issue in the area that they are NOT able to resolve... they even have a written notice on their front desk explaining the wide spread town problem (that you will only see once you get there and after you have booked) although Best Western chooses to keep advertising all over the internet that they offer HIGH SPEED WIFI INTERNET, as well as tell you when you check in that all you need to do is select their wifi account and login and you're good to go. This is simply FALSE advertising and yet another sign of the bad ethics used by this business. We leave it up to your judgement to decide whether or not it's worth spending that much money for this hotel. In our opinion, broken bed aside this hotel was not worth the money nor the aggravation we were put through... A vacation should be relaxing, no one likes to spend money to then be achy, angry, dissatisfied and spend the next three months being bounced from one call to the other and lied to while trying to make matters right.

Room Tip: Do not stay if you need Wifi internet.

The hotel is situated close to the Grand Canyon Visitor's Center. That was the main reason why we picked it and that would be the only reason why we would possibly return. When we arrived there was nobody who offered us to take care of our luggage which was quite annyoing as we had to carry our bags and suitcases to another building complex wheee our room was located. The room itself was nothing special, oldfashioned (probably that is just 'Grand Canyon / Arizona style') but at least clean. The ac was working but very loud so we had to switch it off at night. As other reviewers already stated the 'restaurant' where breakfast was served was more a college canteen than a cosy breakfast room (very standard food and plastic cutlery / dishey).

Fazit: Would return because of the perfect location, the hotel has some areas of improvements.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for writing a review on your stay. You are absolutely correct in your statement that our rooms are in a typical Southwestern Decor. I would like to point out that we do offer Bellhop service 14 hours a day, during check-in, and check-out times. I do apologize that nobody offered this service to you. We hope that should you travel our way again, you will stay with us and allow us to offer you a truly premier experience.

The hotel is laid out like a large motel at the end of the Tusayan main street a mile from the Grand Canyon entrance.

The rooms were clean and amply furnished. Watch out in the bathrooms as the lights are on a timer - or you might need a friendly hand if you have a long bath or shower!

The complementary breakfast is served in what looks like a conference room in the main building. The location is immensely depressing, dark and noisy and given there is a lovely restaurant downstairs that could amply hold the breakfast I was saddened that it was served in such a horrid room. That being said the food was fine, if focussed on fried burger patties and potatoes.

Wifi is non existent across the town and so I suggest you heed with caution previous reviewers complaints leveraged just at this hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay at the Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn. Our breakfast room is designed to serve the vast quantity of guests who also take part in out breakfast buffet. We do have a restaraunt/coffee shop located on the second floor of our hotel, but this room would not sufficiently hold the upwards for 750 people a day enjoying our continental breakfast. We hope that you will choose Best Western should you return to the Grand canyon area. And again, thank you for your review.

We were tired after visiting the Grand Canyon so were glad this Best Western was just a couple of miles outside the park. I think we paid too much for this motel. The people at the front desk were polite but curt. The breakfast was good and had a variety of items. You had to climb stairs to get to the breakfast area on the third floor. They had hotel staff checking patrons to see if you were registered, a little tacky. The room was dark, picture a "cave." The air conditioner worked well and the beds were ok. It is a "green" facility and so they are using potable water in the commode which stopped up, had to use the facility in the lobby the morning we checked out. Glad we only stayed one night.

Room Tip: Prices seem to vary, do what you can to get the best price.

There were 4 of us staying in one of the stand alone buildings. When we got there, the room was set to 64 degrees (freezing) and we found out why. Once we set the room to a more enjoyable 78 the carpeting smelled. The fridge was so rank we ended up throwing out all of the food we bought because the odor transferred to the food. The bathtub diverter came off the wall - yup, water spraying straight back! We could tell that it was loose when we got there, so housekeeping doesn't tell maintenance what needs to be done. One day only 1 bed got made, and toiletries didn't get replenished. When the kids swam in the pool, they said the bottom was slimy. The staff is very nice, but this was a frustrating experience. We will not return.

Room Tip: The out rooms have paper walls - may want to try to the main building. Closer to breakfast and the...
