Looking into a 3 night stay near the Grand Canyon South Rim with only a couple of months advance notice. I was really hoping to find ANYTHING that was just a few miles from the main entrance (found it). Clean and comfortable beds(found it), complimentary breakfast (found it), air conditioning, working TV and free Wi-Fi (found it). We stayed in a king bedroom suite and told we were located in another section of the Holiday Inn that was not connected to the main building but a short distance across the street. This section of hotel has rooms that looked newer, the building was set further back from the main street so also more quiet. Bathrooms were clean, nothing fancy. Access to a separate parking area was conveniently close to the back entry into hotel with your key card. Remember the Grand Canyon sees millions of visitors per year so the turnover and popularity of any facility close to the entrance is in high demand. We lucked out in getting 3 consecutive nights, they are located just 7 miles from the South entrance which saved us a lot of time, with the ability to go back to room if we needed a mid-day break and to get back to the canyon for a couple of beautiful sunsets. The breakfast was actually well covered, we were not expecting fancy, you can go to a number of restaurants for that. This part of the hotel has it's own breakfast area separate from the main building and a sauna. My husband and I were perfectly comfortable in our suite. A mini-refrig. was available and there was a door in bedroom that led out to a small patio that looked out to the back street entrance and was quite quiet. All in all a nice comfortable stay and we would go back for the same if available. We used air conditioner unit for white noise which we happen to like and helped us sleep.

Room Tip: Rooms in separate corner building not connected to main building is quieter, king suites are nice.

We stayed two nights and found this to be a good hotel with great staff. The location was perfect for the Grand Canyon. The rooms where pricey but to be expected for the location.
My only issue was that the internet service was terrible. I would stay again.

Granted, I know that you can get away with charging $200/night for a Motel 6-style room, but it doesn't mean I can't get grouchy about it. Besides, I've stayed in $200/night rooms that were far worse.

This place was hoppin' - lots of tourists - because the location is pretty good - a few miles outside the entrance to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Tusayan is pretty much a one-horse town but it's nice enough. You could really drive into the Grand Canyon for sights, come back to the hotel for a shower, then go back there for dinner with your pass.

As for the hotel, it suffers in comparison to the $100/night Best Western we stayed in Kingman the night before, with similar amenities, but I guess it was OK. The beds weren't very comfy - a bit lumpy. Decor was average, with the bathroom being cheap. Lighting was fluorescent - the flickery kind.

I guess my biggest gripe is the free Internet. Even the wired version was slower than dial-up. Wifi was the same - it wasn't that we were far away (as the signal was strong), but it was probably less usable than the 2G connection I was already getting on my cell phone. I understand that the Internet in the Grand Canyon's main lodge wasn't any better, so I guess it's a local thing.

Breakfast was good. Hot and cold choices in a decent breakfast room.

For dinner nearby, I recommend the Mexican restaurant 1/2 block or so up the road toward the Grand Canyon entrance, on the same side of the street.

We had a relatively pleasant two nite stay, with no major inconveniences. This place is a Holiday Inn Express, so don't expect luxury; expect a decent room. It's important to note that we stayed here because there were no rooms available within the Park. That would have been my first choice. This was a perfectly acceptable 'Plan B.'
We got a good sized, clean room at a decent price. It took us just under ten minutes to get to the Park. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we had no problems whatsoever with the accommodations or staff. The complimentary breakfast is functional and plentiful, but not exactly haute cuisine.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, an found it far too expensive for what we received. Location is excellent, best outside the park itself. There are plenty of places to eat and we had 2 very good meals.
The hotel is modern, but room seemed tired especially the tiling in the bathroom.
Breakfast wasjust ok, give the hot stuff a miss, very ordinary omellette and dried out bacon.

The biggest problem for us was the price $230/night for the facilities provided. The wifi internet timed out time and time again.
Our mobile had no signal. The walls and connecting door were no barrier even for normal conversation, you could hear every word. There was no fridge in the room, can,t remember tthe lastime we saw that.
So stay at the 7 mile lodge, save over a $100/night, its right next door and you get a fridge and a microwave

This hotel was a good stop for getting easily to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
Clean room, bathroom was clean but it was a bit small.
The free breakfast wasnt very good, the choice was very limited, made worse by the male staff starting to clearaway & empty bins ages before the closing time.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be ok, most of them look out to car parking areas, which is to be expected in a ho...

I realize this hotel is convenient to the Grand Canyon but I felt it was overpriced for the quality of accommodations. The rooms could certainly use some updating and not the other ammenities Holiday Inn usually has...warm cookies when you arrive and 24 hr coffee service.
