“It's a wonderful life at the hacienda”
Reviewed April 14, 2012

What this resort DOESN'T have: Plumbing noise, hallway noise with doors opening and banging shut, cramped rooms, and traffic noise.
Silence is golden. The resort is far enough from I-19. The rooms are like having your own hacienda-attached one story casitas with patios that have privacy walls on each side looking out onto landscaped lawns shaded with lovely trees. The room is huge and mine was the smallest room they offer, with luxurious sheets, comfy pillows and open beam ceilings. The room was so nice, I didn't want to leave. I will try the restaurant next time.
Lit walkways cross the grounds and the golf course encircles the resort. The restaurant, shops and chapel areas make you feel as if you stepped onto a well manicured hacienda. It's a short drive to the wonderful shopping in Tubac, with access to the Anza trail. I will stay here again!

Room Tip: Each room offers something different. Drive a loop around the grounds before checking in to see what...

My husband & I spent one night at the Tubac Golf Resort on their golf package. It's a lovely hacienda style resort. The rooms are attached casitas. The decor was true southwestern right down to the blue tile in the bar area and bathroom of the room. There was a little wear & tear of the furniture in our room but pleasant nonetheless. You even get a cd of soothing guitar music to listen to while in your room. The staff were all friendly and courteous. We had happy hour drinks on the patio overlooking the Santa Rita mountains and dinner in the Stables restaurant. The restaurant was quite busy and on the noisy side so it was hard to hear. The food was delicious. (The chilean sea bass was overpriced at $32.) We managed to play 27 holes of golf. You get unlimited golf so we took advantage. There are 3 9 hole courses. They were in excellent shape for desert golf. I highly suggest bringing a bottle of wine and enjoying it from your scenic verandah. We will definitely return!

Located in the high Sonoran desert south of Tucson, Arizona is the Tubac Gof Resot. Founded by Bing Crosby and some of his golfing pals in the 30's it has recently been refurbished and now has 27 holes of excellent golf. Large casitas have been added along with a heated pool. The grass is lush and the fairways well watered. The restaurant is excellent and the bar has saddles for pretend cowpersons. The town of Tubac is an old-time artist colony with many art galleries and loads of shops selling "stuff" that no self-respecting tourist should be without.

Having never been to this area, we were sceptical until we arrived at this hidden gem in the desert. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every way. Tubac --itself was also a nice surprise. The spa was delightful and we enjoyed the surroundings along with nice shops and very adequate eating establishments. The fireplace in the Haciendas was a nice touch along with very good bedding and a great bathroom. The patio looked out on the beautiful golf course and was a delight at all hours of the day.

Looking forward to a return visit next year.

Wow -- what an amazing place. As we were driving down I-19 towards Tubac I thought to myself -- it does not look very pretty -- just deserted.

Then we entered the Tubac Resort and pulled up to the registration building -- when we walked in the small building was decorated very nicely and you could tell it was OLD but well maintained. We had breakfast in the restaurant and the food and service was excellent. We had a beautiful view of the golf course and trees.

I then took a site tour for a potential meeting location in 2013. There is a replica of mission -- which it is used for weddings and group meetings. The design and materials were top notch. Then I had an opportunity to see the sleeping rooms. They were beautiful and roomy. Also, the spa was simply gorgeous. In the last several years there has been some $$ spent on the spa.

I had an opportunity to speak with the Director of Golf -- we brainstormed briefly golf ideas for our group. Everyone we met was very friendly. We then took a quick drive over to Tubac -- wow I could not believe all the shops.

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the Tubac Golf and resort. I bought the getaway on livingsocial.com. We drove down from Scottsdale and were pleased with the villa. The rooms are spacious, clean and very nice. The staff from the minute we checked in were attention to detail. You can rent bikes (all brand new) ride into the small town of Tubac, the resort even has bike locks for you to use. We had breakfast and dinner at the Stables restaurant, both Excellent meals. The staff was amazing and the food fresh and great wine list. All very affordable, yet 1st class. We will surely return when we need a two night get away. Were not golfers so laid by the pool and just relaxed. We also had dinner one night at the Elvira's in Tubac. The food was great and the Margaritas but the music was horrible..
