“memorable mexican lunch”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

We ate lunch in this vividly decorated cafe today. We were seated right away as there were only a couple of other tables filled. We had very tasty Shrimp Molcajetes, which were quite spectacular in a "lava boiling bowl" and quite tasty. Our waiter Jose was extremely polite and helpful in explaining the dishes. Lunch was expensive but fine for a special treat; not sure we would eat here too frequently. The slowness of mid-week business contributed to a relaxed atmosphere. Note to Tripadvisor: you have two Elviras mentioned, but there is only one in Tubac, which relocated some time ago from Nogales.

“Just less than expected”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

We had lunch at Elvira's during our stay in Tubac and it was very good! So our last night in Tubac we wanted to have dinner there. We had to ask what the specials were, our server did not volunteer the information. My husband ordered the filet medium rare, it was served medium with only a scoop of rice, no sauce, kind of dry but with flavor. I ordered the Chilian Sea Bass, it was cooked well but a very small portion. I ordered a second glass of wine but our server never asked my husband if he wanted something else to drink. Just left to get the wine so when she came back he asked for a drink. Our check was over $100.00,we left still hungry. They have a long way to go on their customer service and the food.

“Do not skip!!!!”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

Seated right away with no reservation on a Friday night! We thought the service had great recommendations for each of our diners and were friendly and fast. It's darker because of the amazing art work everywhere and the original plates are place holders on your table which shows even more character. Recommend the mole negro for some good spice, mole poblano for a tamer option, and chile rellenos chipotle for a spicy alternative. A bit pricy but for the service, food, and ambiance it fits.

“Great lunch in a historic old town south of Green Valley”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

VIsiting with friends took us to Tubac. This is an old spanish settlement that has been revived into a historic site and Elvira's is located near the front of the complex. Very good service and greal looking plates that taste really good. You will not be disappointed.

“Delightful experience in Tubac”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Let me start by saying, don't come here if you're looking for a moderately priced lunch. Lunches range from $12 to $28. However, the food was so good, that we felt it was a good value. One of our party had the Mole Atocpan and said it was the best mole ever. I had the house special Chili Pablano "Frieda Kalho" which was delicious.
We sat out on the patio. Being from Wisconsin we couldn't resist being outside on such a lovely day. But the interior was very tempting with it's colorful hanging glass decor. Our waitress was very gracious when we asked to be moved to a different table that had more sun. An all over enjoyable experience.
