“Are you kidding??”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

THE best all-you-can-eat Saturday brunch that I repeatedly came back to for the entire month I spent in San Pedro! Proper bacon that wasn't hot dogs sliced up being passed off as bacon, and for only $5 it's the best bargain I've found when it comes to food! They also offer an assortment of fresh fruit, unlimited coffee, milk, tea, and juice, but the icing on the cake is the omelets that are prepared to your specific instructions! Oh and I can't forget about the Belgian waffles and French toast! Bravo El Barrio I always left in a food coma...you've done you're job!

“Enjoyable Americanized bar...”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Stopped here for a couple cheap drinks. Only reason I give it 3 stars instead of 4 is because it was too americanized for what I wanted while being in Guatemala!

“Great Comfort Food, Amazing Booze Selection”
Reviewed June 14, 2012

I've been in Guatemala for a while, and away from home for even longer. So when someone I know ordered the Mac and Cheese, I was amazed to see something that looked, to me, like real Mac and Cheese. Overflowing with cheddar cheese and yummy carbs, it is the perfect thing for when homesickness starts to hit.

There is plenty of space outside--both under a roof in the back, and umbrellas out front, and a small but comfortable indoor bar area. They have a great liquor selection, at reasonable prices, served up by super friendly bartenders.

On Tuesdays, they have a rotating selection of international food--a couple weeks ago they served a Korean feast, with home-made kimchee. On Wednesdays they have a pubquiz, which is a ton of fun, and unlike other places in town actually has prizes.

Did I mention the WiFi? They have that too. It's just a general all-around good place to hang out, have a beer, do some work, or eat dinner.

“El Barrio”
Reviewed April 26, 2012

El Barrio has just undergone a little renovation which involved raising the roof in the bar making it a lot more comfortable inside (there are outside tables too and regular campfires). They somehow managed to get the renovation done in time for the weekly Trivia night (I didn't think they would make it, but they did).

El Barrio is a must visit for Trivia nights and for the Saturday, all you can eat brunch, for 40Q (a great deal and a great feed). The brunch in particular is a great way to spend a Saturday midday (10-2), and sets you up nicely for the La Piscina BBQ just down the road on Sunday afternoon.
