Cool hostel with loads of chill out space. They let you bring your own drink into one area which makes it a whooe lot better. Nice pool, views, strawberry daquiris and food. Quite grumpy staff. Lockers would go down well in my dorm with no key. Great vibe

We didn't stay sleep in this hotel, but we came here for a beer and something to eat, and we love this place. It was pouring down raining all day, and we were chilling out there for few hours, the atmosphere was great, so calming and inspirative. Nice The food and drinks were a little bit pricy though. Nice swings for kids and grown-ups.

Zoola is an OK hostel. Great value for money i think. We stayed in some private rooms, which were OK, clean enough and had duvets (a luxury by this point in our travels). The communal areas are OK too - the chilling area, the TV area is and the pool. The food was lovely but very slow service and a little pricey. We successfully managed to arrange some travel through the hostel too, although the staff do not speak much English and we didn't speak much Spanish! I think my view was affected by the weather - it rained for our entire stay so I didn't particularly warm to San Pedro and also it was rather difficult to find!

My daughter had always dreamed of getting married in San Pedro and loved the location, vibe and views of Zoola. So when she and her Guatemalan boyfriend decided to marry this year, we asked Zoola if they would consider doing a wedding. They had never done a wedding there but were excited to work with my daughter to plan hers. And they did an amazing job of turning what is usually the noisy party headquarters of San Pedro into a fantastic venue for a wedding. We had exclusive use of the restaurant, bar and rooms in between for most of the day of the wedding. The noontime wedding ceremony took place around the pool with the lake and mountains as the stunning backdrop. Sixty or so guests were seated in the bar area in comfortable covered chairs during the ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony we had an hour of drinks and finger foods while pictures were taken with groups of guests. Then a sumptuous luncheon was served in the restaurant tent and dining area. Our family and friends loved the floor seating for eating, but having the tables and chairs proved useful for the elderly family members. The food, which included a selection of middle eastern mesa-type foods, San Pedro salad, rice, roasted vegetables and roasted pork got rave reviews from all the guests. The rest of the reception was dancing to music by DJ Eric back in the bar area. Since we had rented the rooms between the bar and restaurant, many of my daughter's friends stayed there making it very convenient after all the partying before and after the wedding. Dana Sharabi at Zoola did an incredible job of planning and executing the organization of the wedding, the menu, the drink needs, the decorations, the DJ and all the other details. This wedding turned out to be beautiful, relaxed, fun and one that all our family and friends say they will long remember. Thank you Zoola, Dana, Eric, Adam, and all the rest of the staff for doing such a fabulous job!!!

Zoola may not be the most organized place, but they have a pool, a lake view,a bar with low tables and pillows, and always music playing. There is a chill lounge with hammocks and more pillows. The food is pricey but good. There are shared and private rooms, which are on par with the rest of the town, but do try to negotiate, you should be able to get 10-30Q off the price.
There is always something happening at night, so at times it feels you don;t need to leave as everyone in San Pedro will eventually come to you.

We stayed there for three nights in March 2013. The price for the room was good and the staff was friendly. They also have a great outside terrace with pool and amazing views over the lake and mountains. However, as we stayed close to the bar, there was so much noise during the entire night and it was hard to fall asleep. There is a serious lack of bathrooms and as they also get used by the people in the bar they are dirty in the mornings (before the cleaners swipe them immaculately, though!). The restaurant offers good value deals and the meatballs are great. Yet, the service really is not great, as they constantly forgot orders and misplaced old receipts/bills etc. We were also happy that we brought our own bedlinen and towels as the ones given to us were not so clean.

Great music and atmosphere. Food is nice but pricey, along with drinks. Careful with the room you pick if you don't want to party - go as far away from the lake as you can because the lakeside bar and pool are loud.

Room Tip: Don't sleep near the lakeside bar, check the room first.
