“Perfect for morning coffee time!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2012

We have been on Lake Atitlan since July and we just spent one night in room #10. The place is clean, rooms are large, the hottest shower water we have every had in Guatemala, the second story veranda is wide with tables, hammocks and chairs which catch the morning sun as soon as it pops over San Pedro Volcano. Because your very near the lake the town sounds are not as bad here as say the hotel Maya (where we have also stayed at). Nothing in our room or even in front of our room was tampered with. The hotel is conveniently located and cost $12 for two. It's not high class but it is very nice for the budget traveler. Always, bring earplugs to these villages and towns....dogs and chickens are always noisy,

Room Tip: Bring earplugs and room #11 is closest to the lake.

We stayed there for a few days. A room for a couple costs 100Q, which is very good price at a very beautiful place. The room is spacious and clean and there are hot water in the shower (something that is not so obvious in Guatemala). There's an access to the lake for those who wants to take a swim whenever...
The place it more suitable for couples, that want some peace and quiet.
The owner of place, Felix, is very nice and helpful. so if we would get there somewhere in the future, we would comeback to this hotel again.

There's only one downside that i can think of in the place, it is that there is a lot of noise frome the road near the hotel on the morning.

The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the Panajachel dock, right above the Lake. We paid Q100 per room. There are two beds in each room. We were going to share the room with our daughter and 6 year old grandson but they allow only two people per room. There's a short path down to the Lake where the local women wash clothes and the boys swim. Our grandson had a good time swimming there.

The rooms and bathrooms are sufficiently large and clean. There's a hammock on the porch in front of each room for relaxing. We've stayed there twice now and been very pleased with it.

Room Tip: We like the rooms closest to the Lake but I think they fill up first.

The hotel wasn't terrible but wasn't anything special. We had a private room with double beds, and private bathroom on the lowest floor. It was nice but you could hear all the noise that goes on in the hotel courtyard. The bathroom was spacious with a nice shower. We had a cheap hammock outside our door that wasn't really worth laying on. It was decent but nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: Get the lowest room close to the lake

The room was big, there is the terrace on the lake and the ladies were cleaning all day long..
The only cons: the bedlinens were very old and wouldn't stay in their place on the bed and the wc worked quite bad..by the way I think it was bringing the stuff you put in it on the lower floor by the garden..
Finally, remember to pay the night in advance otherwise the owner will knock at your door!

how to get there:
get off the ferry from panhachel go up one block
turn left, quarter mile on right. (5 min max walk)

very clean and on the water front. quite secure. from the landing you have a view of the lake, try to get the second level rooms. around 100Q per night.
big, rooms, hot shower and cable TV! down the street is a italian place, which was great and cheap, also the breakfast joint next to the italian is a bargain.

to be fair:
-very slippery floors, like breakneck, but this we found in alot of places in guatamala.
-no real view of the lake from inside the rooms. all the rooms face perpendicular to the lake so you can only see the lake from the balconey. (one reason we ended up moving down the street to vista de lago posada)

overall:
i would go back there again, its very convienient to everything and really a nice place.

Nice, Clean rooms with towels and hot showers. Nice owners and close to cafes and Pana Dock. Only problem was smell of coffee bean processing next door, which put me off my coffee.

  • Liked — convenience and lake view
  • Disliked — next to coffee bean processing
