Description: A Graduate- run restaurant located in the CECAP vocational center building in the town of Santa Cruz la Laguna. It is part of a yearlong culinary arts program that trains local indigenous youth in food preparation and service. Open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Saturday. Also, special events and First Friday Pizza Nights. Take out menu available. The food is the best in Santa Cruz! The view from the rooftop restaurant is amazing as well. Visitors will have an opportunity to visit the vocational center and purchase locally made crafts in our shop.

“Great food, view, and mission!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014

We had a great lunch there-- the tamalitos and subanik were great and very fresh. Beautiful presentation of food and the prices were also very fair. You can't beat this view. The best part is the mission behind the restaurant which is all about training and building capacity of the locals. We met the founder also having lunch there.

“Incredible lake view and value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

A friend recommended this restaurant, and I was lien away by the lake views, attentive service and deliciously prepared food.

It's a great place to try traditional Guatemalan cuisine. What surprised me was the attention to detail and presentation in addition to the low prices. Main courses are only about $4.50 but you'd pay double or triple that in Antigua.

Plus your money goes to a good cause as it's run by culinary students.

“Breakfast at cafe' Sabor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

Excellent location with view of the lake. Spotless restaurant, friendly people and above all fantastic food freshly made. It is a slow food restaurant, but worth every minute of waiting. The fresh herbs for the omlette are picked from the garden upon order. Very reasonable prices. I only wish they had dinner service too.

“Excellent local food... and a great view too...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

Really worth a visit if you are staying on the lake... take the ferry boat to Santa Cruz and then a 3 minute tuk-tuk ride ....or a 10 minute uphill hike if you are up for it ;-)

The food is simple, prepared fresh and absolutely fantastic... no complaints whatsoever and the view was pretty spectacular too :-)

Great to see people supporting this local student run culinary arts cafe... we hope they continue to thrive...

“wonderful view onto the lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2013

We came for a while by a lancha from Panajachel and needed a drink after climbing the steep hill to the village. This café-restaurant at the back of the CECAP centre is about the only place in the village to sit down with a beer or a juice, and to enjoy the view at the same time. Very friendly people serving here and at the workshop in front of the building, you can buy locally handcrafted textiles etc. for a good price, at the same time supporting the community work being done in CECAP.
