“Everything a hostel needs, friendly staff, great vibe, eco friendly and good on a budget”

We stayed here over Xmas whilst doing turtle conservation for the Corcovado Foundation. Having no idea what to expect as it's quite remote we found it to have everything we needed. A big kitchen, plenty of hammocks to relax in and spot Toucan's and McCaws from. It's own path to a spot in a river to swim in within a minute walk, big garden area with volleyball court, huge kitchen with 2 cooking areas and WiFi and two very friendly dogs
We arrived to Drake Bay by boat and thought we'd need to get a bus to the hostel as it's quite a way from Drake Bay itself, (actually in a small town called El Progreso) but within 5 minutes of having arrived a car came along to pick us up. They provide transport shuttle service to and from the Drake Bay itself on a daily basis as that's where you need to go to take any tours. There are only a couple of Soda restaurants nearby with limited food options so it's recommended to bring some with you, although there are 2 local shops a 5 minute walk from the hostel for any urgent supplies. Being so remote expect to find some creepy crawlies around the place. It all adds to the experience
There is an idyllic beach past a lagoon either a 20min walk away or 10mins by bike (provided free by the hostel). Soft sands, full of palm trees with Scarlett McCaws all around whilst hearing the Howler Monkey's patrolling their area. We rarely saw another person on the beach.

All the staff are incredibly friendly fun people and they cooked up an amazing Christmas dinner for around 30 people. I had a great time. Many thanks to Irene, Antonio and Aida for making it so enjoyable
