“#1 in our Books”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

Our group of 4 found this restaurant while walking around Drake Bay one afternoon. The owner, Teresa was very friendly and accommodating in supplying us a much needed refreshment, even though they weren't really open, so we decided to come back the next evening for supper. We are very glad we did - the meals that each of us had were absolutely delicious. The Whole Red Snapper was ordered by 2 of our party and both have since agreed it was the best that was had at any restaurant during our 2 week vacation in Costa Rica, and it was ordered at a few other restaurants as well. The service was delightful and the atmosphere inviting. The only downfall was the portion of the fish filet meal - ordered by one - was a smaller portion than he expected and would have liked. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and although we did not eat at Curt's - this restaurant was #1 in our books.

“Best restaurant in Drake Bay (despite claims by Gringo Curt to be No. 1)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

Dining choices are quite limited in Drake Bay. If you are staying at one of the up market hotels, then your probably on full board and paying high prices. We enquired at Jicintes Inn about dining and were offered fried chicken or fried fish at $20, we declined. Most other establishments offer mostly fried food as well at substantially lower cost, but again limited choice. If by now you are wondering how you are going to get well priced food for dinner with a varied choice of dishes and cuisine then go to Drakes Kitchen. We ate there three times in five nights and were never disappointed, nor did we feel that the prices were not the best value in town.
The only disadvantage is that it is a little way out of town. No problem if you were brave enough to drive to Drake Bay as there is parking at the restaurant. Also safe to walk as the road has street lighting from town, but you will have to negotiate the hill there and back.
Curiously one night we went and they were full, so we g ad to wait for a table; another night we went and we were the only people present for over an hour, then another couple showed up.
Cuisine is an interesting mix with dishes with roots in Italy, Mexico, USA, Costa Rica
