“Great place to stay.”
Reviewed January 27, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Mario and Nichole were very informed and helpful with 1st time Drake Bay visitors. The wildlife we saw from their back decks included Howler monkeys, Scarlet M caws, humming birds, and other birds. They helped with scheduling tours and are excellent hosts. We stayed in the casita the first night and moved to the Casona for the next 5 days. We found both to be clean, well supplied with coffee, cooking supplies, and lots of extras they did not advertise.

“Private enclave nestled in jungle, walk to everywhere, excellent!”
Reviewed January 13, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed for 3 nights while touring Drake. Great hosts - Mario & Nichole - were very informative. Here's a fully fenced, beautiful and private enclave on the edge of the jungle. Walk to everywhere from here. Loved Drake!

“Comfortable and accessible to everything in Drake Bay”
Reviewed December 30, 2015 for a stay in December 2015

The owner, Nicole, was very helpful arranging transportation and tours. The house is very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The front garden is quite lovely and we were happy to see spider monkeys in the trees behind the house! If you require air conditioning for your comfort, be aware this house does not have any. The ceiling fans did help, but mosquitoes did chew up our son at night. Beaches, restaurants, and stores are all a short walk away.

“Intimate Drake Bay Retreat”

After staying with friends at an all-inclusive Drake Bay property last summer I could not wait to go back. But this time I wanted to experience Costa Rican life from a local perspective so opted for the Mango Street Casita; I got just what I was looking for and then some!!

The Casita is located a short walk from Drake Bay town, but is extremely private. The owners and hosts Mario and Nichole live on the same property and have taken great care to maintain the natural jungle habitat while offering terrific amenities to guests. My favorite part of the Osa from my previous visit was being surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife, and I was delighted to have that same feeling on Mango Street. The Casita was extremely well appointed with everything I needed--from comfortable, cheerful bed/bath/living furnishings to the fully stocked kitchen.

Nichole and Mario were super helpful giving me tips about grocery shopping and restaurant options, arranging tours and sharing ideas of places to explore on my own. They were extremely gracious and unobtrusive at the same time--I truly felt like this was a vacation tailored to me!

I would not hesitate to recommend this property and am already planning a return trip with my children in tow!!

I adore the casita! It is clean and well stocked, close to restaurants and grocers. Mario is an aMazing host, setting up day trips and ensuring our needs were met.

“Memorable stay in the rainforest”

We've just finished a year trip with our kids, and staying at Mango Street casita was one of our absolute highlights. It is both secluded and close to town. At the edge of the rainforest, we were visited by 4 types of monkees, sloths, toucans and all manner of birds. Mario was a fantastic host, our kids were in tears when we left and have vowed that we would come back. The kitchen is very well equipped, and there are all kinds of nice touches (bags for shopping, lovely little library) that shows the hosts have really thought about how to make your stay comfortable.

“Charming little house in town AND forest!”
Reviewed June 29, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Our stay at Mango St. Casita was just what we hoped for. It’s a sweet little house, next door to owners’ house, but out of sight—sufficiently private. We had our own little patio that backed up onto a patch of jungle, where we saw birds, butterflies and cute little lizards – but not the sloths or monkeys other guests sometime see! Owners Nichole and/or Mario would stop by every day to see if we needed help organizing anything, or finding food—I had some of the best fresh fish I’ve ever had, when Mario found us some red snapper that had just been caught that day! They helped arrange trips to Corcovado, snorkeling, the night hike (fabulous!), and a private bird-watching walk (Carlos was great!). We loved having our own little place, and felt very taken care of as well. The house is a 5 minute walk from the boat landing, or to the collection of little restaurants and tiny tiendas in town. You can also walk from town down the coast, in the jungle with ocean views and sweet little beaches, for as far as you want. We had a great time, and would happily come stay here again!

Liked best: Nichole and Mario were charming hosts, and it was a great location for us--in town, but could walk into the forest easily!
Liked least: No hot water in the kitchen sink -- but easy to heat on stove.
