My beautiful new bride and I spent a wonderful 2 weeks in CR, each place better than the last and our final 4 were in the paradise of Drake Bay at Aguila de Osa. Even the experience getting to the resort was great - river trip out to the Pacific back in to the Bay! From the minute we got there were were greeted by friendly staff, macaws, complimentary beverages, and great views wherever we looked. Spent a few days snorkeling including right from their secluded beach and some jungle tours, saw dolphins and whales and monkeys and gators and lizards and all kinds of neat tropical plants. The owner was pretty laid back, had lots of great stories and his dog would lead us anywhere we wanted to go! DEFINITELY would recommend for a honeymoon or romantic getaway, you can be as active or lazy as you want. Rooms all have great views, open air, very comfortable. Only downside for some may be the 50-60 steps up from the dining room to get to the rooms.

The staff here was exceptional. The food was delicious, the rooms were very clean and the lanscaping was beautifull. They even invited us into town where we partied till 4am. I definetely will return to the Aguila De Osa. We saw a tremendous amount of animals while in Drake Bay, it was so nice coming back to a nice lodge after tromping through the jungle.

Our two boys, 16 and 13, were reluctant to join us ("No TV? No phones in the room?") but they were mesmerized as were we with the remarkable location and the beauty of the nature around them. You experience this unique ecosystem literally from your own room and balcony, and are surrounded by plants, flowers, and other living things. We spent 4 days at Aguila de Osa which honestly was enough, but more time would not be a loss. Snorkeling, rainforest hikes, boating, zip lines and more. Food was fresh, simple and tasteful. A little hot at night for those of us used to AC, but the fans are adequate and we hit a hot spell. Fresh coffee outside of our room at 5AM each morning, incredibly friendly service (we never saw a frown) and all in all everything we needed was taken care of. Highly recommended. Caution: we then went North to the Marriot Los Suenos for a few days and although we were not disappointed, it is a resort like many others, and not a terribly unique experience. Aguila is something else!

We (myself, my wife and daughters 14 & 17)stayed 4 nights at Aquila and everything was fantastic. We went on the snorkeling trip to Cano Island, on the Mangrove boat tour and on the San Pedrillo hike in Corcorvado. We saw birds, anteaters, sloths, snakes, bugs, bats, fish and beautiful vegetation. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was delicious. Dinner is family style with 2 meats - chicken / beef / fish while we were there, salad or soup, rice, veggies, bread, desert. The guides were extremely knowledgeable regarding birds and wildlife.
We had no problem with the water or mosquitoes and while it was certainly hot during the day, the place is designed to make the most of breezes and fans. And the nights were very pleasant for sleeping. Be ready to wake up early because the birds are out in force around 5:30. Not much shopping. No other bars or nightlife – Aguila is ‘out-there’ and that’s its beauty. Time passes differently there – we all noticed it. We plan to go back someday. It's a tropical paradise.

Aguila was my favorite part of our three week vacation to Costa Rica! Besides the gorgeous area and amazing tours, the staff was so helpful, and really made us feel at home. The owner, Bradd, was always nearby, and made us feel special by specifically learning our names and making sure we had everything we needed. Pedro, the manager, was incredible. He had an answer for every question we had! I also loved Anita, who was the bartender and our horseback guide. She was so sweet.

As far as the tours... we went diving, we went to Corcovado Park, and we went Horseback Riding. One morning we got up early to go birdwatching with our guide Carlos, who was great. The Park was beautiful, we saw monkeys, sloths, and learned so much about the trees and plants. Diving was fantastic.

All in all, I wish I could move there.
