Snorkeling was a bit rough: waves and current, the water was not very clear. It was hard and even dangerous to get on and off the boat on the island

Our family of four (daughters age 12 and 14) went with a local guide to Cano Island and it was one of the most memorable parts of our month long trip in Costa Rica. We were able to see humpback whales including a baby whale jumping not far from our boat, and dolphins on our way to the island. The snorkeling was great... rays, white tipped shark, schools of tropical fish of vibrant colors. When we return to Drake Bay, we will definitely return to Cano Island and next time try diving. San Jocecito beach is also a great place for snorkeling. It would be a distinct advantage to have some washroom facilities at the ranger station on the island, as it is a deterrent for some to go on a tour knowing that there are no washrooms available. We had to delay our tour for this reason when one of our daughters was feeling unwell one day, and thankfully we had 6 days in Drake Bay so could reschedule.

90-120 minute boat ride from hell. Half the people in the boat got sick. We saw two turtles and a few fish while being stung by jellies.
Drake is cool and Corcovado worth the trip...but if you've snorkelled in the carribean...skip Isla de Cano

Good snorkeling, also for kids. Water was calm enough. Sight was not great, but good enough for us. Seeing a whale and a pool of dolphins made the picture complete!

Lots of marine life. Ton of white tip sharks and turtles. I wish the park would open up a couple of dive sites on the other side of the island.
