“Perfecto..tranquillo!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

Stayed for four nights end of February along with my adult daughter in search of beach time and a little surf after a week on the Carribbean coast. Beautifully appointed low key operation (?only 5 suites) that is totally chill. Room was clean with a well supplied kitchen, though we took advantage of the great on site , oceanside restaurant with a creative menu. There are many little carved out spaces you can call your own...a top deck above the restaurant or a quiet table down by the rocks. pool area is not huge, but there are enough nice hammocks and loungers. grounds are lovely with dramatic smashing waves on rocks when tide is high...fabulous sunset views. We didnt have a vehicle which could be challenging for some, but we walked into Domenical on the beach and took taxis when needed...we were in no rush, but if you really wanted to cover more territory a car would be useful.
Staff was EXTREMELY welcoming and helpful with suggestions for getting around....from the ever-smiling Sandra to Kate the chef, the wait staff and the owners themselves. We tried to extend our stay..but they were full, yet still helped us find some accomodation nearby. Book now!

We stayed here for seven days with friend and overall were very satisfied with the level of service and the location. The hotel is in a very pretty location overlooking a rocky shoreline with a great view of the ocean and sunsets. Unfortunately this is not true of the rooms, which though very comfortable do to not afford the same view.
There are three sets of rooms, we stayed in the Monkey which overlooks the back of the restaurant. The rooms itself was very dark, (there is only so much you can do with Ikea low wattage light bulbs several of which were missing) Sandra the manager, did provide us with some additional lighting. The bed was comfortable and overall the rooms was kept very clean. There is a lack of storage space for cloths and it would be difficult if more than two people were sharing this room. The water was an ongoing problem as it ran out each day, so if you need a shower take it while you can. Also beware of the shower heads, they have point of use heater located in the the shower head itself, and if you happen to touch them you will get a shock, though nothing that will cause serious harm. (just a good wake up call!), also is not advisable to drink the water, though they do proved drinking water at the restaurant.
The room we stayed in had a microwave and a small fridge and some utensils, there very little counter space and realistically not practical for making more than snacks. The level of service was excellent and the staff went out of their way to help. The restaurant provided a good breakfast, though the dinner menu was disappointing and other than the specials each day provided nothing more than snacks and poorly made pizzas.
This a great location with a wonderful staff a small swimming pool and a beautiful view proving you are in the right area.

Thanks very much for your feedback, and your positive and constructive comments. In response to some of the minor issues you raise I can provide the following explanations.
We are reviewing our website to ensure it is clear that views from some rooms are of the gardens rather than the sea. The hotel is sourced by a spring as part of our ecological commitment and in dry season this can mean occasional low water flow. There is an outdoor shower by the pool which guests are welcome to utilize also as well as the ocean itself! The issue with shower heads and drinking water is usual across Costa Rica and Central America, which locals and regular travellers are familiar with – however clearer signs may be helpful so thank you for this feedback.
The lighting in the rooms is yellow daylight bulbs which are designed not to attract mosquitos and also provide ambience, but we are always happy to accommodate guest’s requirements. In terms of utensils provided, the rooms are not really designed as full self-catering as we have an on-site restaurant, as you suggest they are really to allow guests to make snacks. We have made some changes in response to previous suggestions and feel that it’s about right at the moment, but we do continue to review our service in line with guest feedback and expectations. We are reviewing the restaurant evening menu and would welcome further suggestions.
We’re glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to welcome you back again soon!

We just stayed at Costa Paraiso. What an amazing place. The rooms are beautiful and the setting and view are amazing. The staff were so helpful. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful
We will be back and spend more time. Animals everywhere and big Iguanas in all the trees.

Room Tip: The Toucan is perfect for a couple or two people

We stayed in mid Feb 2013 and loved it. It is very nice, but not over the top. The property was super well kept. The managers were top notch, friendly, helpful, welcoming and very open. The meals were delicious. They made a Valentine's dinner of ahi tuna and the dining area with a view over the pool to the ocean was just as amazing as it looks on the site. We went to playa Hermosa 5-10 min drive to body surf and run the beach every day. We heard some howler monkeys. Internet was solid. Rooms all seemed to have good views. The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms and kitchen were well designed and a great treat. We had only one issue - we didn't have a 4wd and it took us a few tries each day to drive up the steep drive, but we switched to a 4wd and had no trouble after that.

Coming to such a Paradise .....2 Km south of Dominical...a virtual Paradise..... pero mas grande .... offering silence from the city life..... falling asleep to the crashing waves..... the smiles of the people in Costa Paraiso , their willingness to help , their joy for a simple life...... their eagerness at communicating with you , wanting to learn english , yet a pride in teaching you the language of their birth..... this country Costa Rica is changing rapidly, no longer are the books of information people purchase to travel here, honest or current....... they offer a great deal of superb information, but this is not a third world country by any means... be prepared to invest in your holiday stay with more funds than expected....... yes there are hostels, great places to stay for minimal funds, but if you seek a great , comfortable , english speaking place , for less than $100.00 per night , you delude yourself....... With regards to food..... you can pay little for some food.... and there are great local typo comeda costa rican food places in abundance.... many with great local food.... and for less money..... yet if you seek more with a budget to seek different food , it is not offered at a cheap price, less than Canadian prices for sure , but perhaps more than a person from the USA would pay.
If you are a family or a person, or a couple who want a semi secluded place, with the most stunning views, easy access to a wonderful , long , almost private beach , glorious sunsets, and a restaurant which can offer you a Can/Tico taste of food here in Costa Rica.....a place to come , relax, enjoy good , plentiful food, at a fair trade cost, Costa Paraiso and the restaurant ? Por Que No? is the place for you. The food is served with a great deal of love and pride.... come and experience this awesome place for yourself, close by is Dominical Super......a place where you can find almost anything you seek..... the prices might be a bit more, but when you compare the gas and time price , or the cost and time for bus to Uvita the difference in price is negligable..... this is a life changing experience .... Don't miss the opportunity!!!

Room Tip: rent the tucan .... and ask for breakfast to be served on your own private deck with the best view o...

We visited Costa Paraiso back in September 2012 for 2 nights. We had a beautiful drive from San Jose airport; however, by the time we arrived it was pouring rain. While waiting in the car figuring out how we were going to get out in the rain we were greeted by Sandra carrying umbrellas. She took us straight to our room to get settled in. The resort is beyond words. The rooms were relaxing, the pool was small but nice. The views were incredible!! We enjoyed talking to the other couples staying there. The last day we were there a large family with children arrived and took over the pool which made us glad we were leaving. We literally sat an entire day on the upper deck and looked at the tide coming in over the rocks. I love the beach and unfortunately felt that even in low tide it was too rocky for me to venture out into. There are few restaurants nearby. The ones we tried were just o.k. The restaurant on the property was just o.k. too. The food was rather bland. I am not a huge salt person but everything really needed salt added to it. We decided to venture to another part of Costa Rica after our stay just to find a better beach to enjoy. Overall the resort was really nice and we would have stayed had we had better beached to play in.

Thank you, was good that you enjoyed the view and the rocks where the waves were crashing, it is a view that you don’t get tired of.
The rainy season is powerful and occasionally takes the sand out to sea, so that more rocks are exposed. In the summer time the sand comes back, right now the sand is back and the beach is awesome. Please come and visit us in our summer time to see the other face of Costa Paraiso

Don't let the long, cliff like driveway scare you off. After driving around and checking out 6 or 7 different hotels that are close to the water, Casa Paraiso was the clear winner for us. It's just beautiful and close to everything we planned to do (beach, surfing, riding horses up to Nauyaca falls, etc.).

Sandra was incredibly helpful and despite the fact we didn't have reservations we lucked out and were able to get into the Toucan room (the most private room with the best view) on short notice.

Great Service and if you get a chance, try the smoothies at PorQueNo. They pretty much pull the fruit of tree's that are on the property and mix them up for you. Can't beat that!

Also worth noting that we left our power cord in the room which they figured out and placed in our luggage before we left.

Room Tip: The toucan room is the best on the property. It's the most secluded and has the best view.
