“Review for Hiking, NOT Horseback Riding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2014

My husband was too leery about having our girls (6,8, and 9) go horseback riding and they LOVE hiking...so off we went!
We knew going into it that it was a 4.7 KM hike each way (just about 3 miles) and that going there was all uphill. That was a little daunting. The lady at the roadside building told us it was muddy, and would take about 1.5 hours each way. Armed with plenty of water and snacks we started walking.
Holy crap was it muddy! There were spots where our feet were covered in mud and we couldn't figure out which way to go! BUT this was not very often, and was much better on the way back down.
It was the toughest hike I've done. That being said, it was totally worth it! It took us just over 2 hours to get up, but only 50 minutes to get back down.
The waterfalls were the prettiest we have ever seen, and living in Michigan we often see waterfalls. Just amazing!
In the end of July we didn't have any need for bug spray.
I would have preferred to horseback ride, but can understand my husband's hesitation. Our girls had no problem with the hike. Give it a try!

“Great experience & value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Our kids said this was one of the highlights of our trip and I have to agree. Our 7 & 9 year olds had no problem riding their own horses, even though they had little prior experience. The staff is friendly and the trip is a nice, relaxing trek through the rain forest. The breakfast and lunch stops were great, simple but tasty Costa Rican food.

At the waterfalls, the guides string up lines and help guests climb up the falls (would be almost impossible without them, at least on the day we were there when the falls were flowing pretty strong). After everyone has had their fill of the fun, the guides all take turns doing spectacular dives off the highest points! Given that this is about a 6 hour outing and it includes 2 meals, it's a great value, especially compared to a lot of other activities in the area.

“So much fun and lovely”

The horse I had was a brat with a wry sense of humor but I felt quite safe. The staff make sure you have what you need and are almost obsessive about safety. The food and coffee are amazing. The waterfall is beautiful.

“Worth every penny”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

Precious family owns and runs the business. I haven't ridden on a horse in 20 years, but that wasn't a problem. Two wonderful meals, the horseback ride and the amazing waterfalls, including cliff diving -super fun day. I highly recommend it!
