“never new such a place existed!”

"With tropical ocean and jungle views surrounding every inch of this place, it was an experience like no other. We absorbed the relaxing privacy as though it was our own private spa. Grace delivered carefully designed gourmet meals, taking into account our dietary preferences and health issues. This was more like an individually tailored health retreat than a rented villa. We had fantastic massages by the owner in our own outdoor massage parlor each day and a 180 degree terrace from which to watch and photograph sloths, toucans and monkeys etc, just a few meters away. If you wish exotic, total privacy and yet highly indulgent and caring service, this is the spot.

Potoo was the PERFECT place for my wife and I to get away. Alex and Grace were more than accomadating and we always felt they were close by in case we needed help, but had all the privacy we could ask for and wanted. Potoo is an amazing place to stay, we both thought it was out of this world and could not have been more comfortable in this perfect honeymoon get-a-way indonesia house. Dominical is an adventurous town that is right down the road with plenty of companies ready to take you away for a day to enjoy the area. There is also a supermarket in the town if you like to cook (Potoo has an awesome kitchen!) or you can dine at some great resturaunts in the area (spicey coconut has some delicous Thai food). We would definitely travel there again and would recommend it to any honeymooners or romantic couple looking for a place to fall in love all over again.

Potoo was an amazing house to stay in for a honeymoon. Grace and Alex were gracious hosts who were hands on enough to ensure we had an excellent vacation, but allowed us privacy and a feeling of seclusion. When my brand new husband cut his hand open on a pineapple Grace and Alex were there immediately to help bandage him up (and calm me down). I would recommend this house to anyone- you really feel like you are in the trees and we even saw Tucans from the porch. Grace really is an excellent chef so having her cook for you is a treat and a half. We also had massages and while I was a total noodle afterward it was incredibly relaxing and wonderful.

Is the only way to describe this place . Once you make the trek up the mountain (a 4 wheeel drive is definately recommended.) you are truely in paradise. The house is more beautiful than expected and the view is awesome. Each night falling asleep while listening to the sounds of the rainforest one truely becomes one with nature. Our first night there we had dinner prepared. Prior reviewers stated Graces cooking is the best in town , It's true, don't miss this opportunity to be pampered, it is well worth it. That includes her spa service, she is a gifted masseuse and definately a healer. Actuallly the best part of our trip was getting to know Grace, Alex & family and Jose ( caretaker).Listening to their stories of how the place was built gives one pause to be thankful for the everyday readily available comforts we take for granted. They were the most gracious hosts always available when needed and helpful with advice and arrangements and pointing out the local tree Sloths ! We really enjoyed their recommendation of Citrus restaurant south of Uvita. We never made it to the OSo peninsula due to rain but had a great time visiting Manuel Antonio Park one hour north. The guides our amazing, Leo our guide, had this natural intuition in spotting birds and other wildlife that seemed almost genetic! The beaches are absolutely gorgeous don't forget your bathing suit!. However nothing tops the patio and pool at Bosque en Cielo and the night chorus of frogs is hilarious. The house itself is extremely comfortable loved the art! The higher elevation lends itself to a nice breeze and less mosquitos! The beds are comfortable and every creature comfort needed is available . We cherish the memory and cant wait to return to this beautiful great place. We also recommend visiting Arenal area and staying at Silencio del campo as they have their own hotspring!

Staying in Potoo tree house was like slipping into another exotic world. The house is gorgeous, flawlessly decorated and unbelievably romantic. Tucans, hawks and hummingbirds flit from branch to branch right off the wrap-around porch. The sounds of their calls and the jungle around echo gently. Plush sofas and wooden chairs fill the spaces in a simple yet completely comfortable setting.

The view is breathtaking. Nestled on a hilltop accessed via the long and winding driveway, you truly feel as though you are far from the crowds and reality. The additional properties are well separated and flawlessly decorated as well. It took about 10 minutes of this to get into the swing of vacation and make ourselves at home in this mountain oasis. While we had intended to get out and tour Dominical- sample its’ restaurants , but after one of Grace’s delectable and gourmet meals we quickly changed our plans.

Days were spent reading, day-trips, relaxing and sampling one of Grace’s fantastic massages. Evenings were spent relaxing on the deck after one of Grace’s incredible feasts and Alex’s fantastic bottles of wine, while watching the sun set and the trees come alive with the sounds of nature. As we went the end of March, dry season, we did not have any of the rains or tough weather the region is known for, and were treated to warm days, refreshing winds and the mists from the mountain rains wafting through the valley at our feet.

While the drive up and down the driveway is adventurous, the access to Dominical, the coast, the beach and local adventures was easy. Grace and Alex have put together a great retreat from reality and worries of everyday life. They have created an incredible experience and we will most certainly be going back to spend time with them.

Negatives- none, really. The locals were incredibly friendly, the day-trips great, the town of Dominical – a small, hip surf town (just the way we wanted it) and the setting/food just about perfect.

We were tempted to NOT share this treasure with the masses, but must admit Manu Villas is an incredible find. It stands out from the competition because of it's singular, exceptional design AND location (seemingly removed from reality), juxtaposed with the myriad adventure opportunities of near-by Dominical. Owners Grace and Alex made us feel like kindred spirits, offering both adventure and leisure. If you are turned off by the uniformity of all-inclusive packages and find yourself ready to embrace a fulfilling and rejuvenating adventure, you've found the right place.
