It's always with some trepidation when you share with others amazing places and finds for fear that if the whole world knows about it you'll never be able to access it again!! This has been how I feel about Manu Villas -- a definite paradise perched high in the rain forest overlooking the most beautiful Pacific sunsets -- that somehow I want to keep secret so it will always be there for us in the future. My partner and I stayed here for the 2nd time in two years, the first in Bosque and this most recent time for 11 days in Pavilion. And again we had one of the best holidays we've ever had with lots of time for both recreation and restorative rest!! This time we brought friends. Pavilion is well constructed with clean lines, wonderful use of stone and wood and windows everywhere with great vantages of the stunning views. There is a separate building with two large bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms and showers. And then there is the infinity pool, the perfect place to contemplate life, your morning cup of coffee or the evening sunset.
Alex and Grace are the consummate hosts, gracious, welcoming and charming -- and like others we highly recommend Grace's culinary skills!! Even their dogs get in on the act and periodically appear to ensure that you don't miss your own pooch at home too much!! Jose and his staff are friendly and meticulous in their attention to ensuring that you are comfortable, have clean towels, putting freshly cut flowers in the bathroom, and keeping the grounds groomed and the pool cleaned. Thank you.
We took advantage of the new road between Dominical and Quepos to spend more time in Manuel Antonio and Quepos this trip but decided we much prefer the more wild and rugged coast of Hatillo/Dominical and south -- and our favourite beaches Playa Guapil (minutes from the villa) and Playa Ventanas (further south near Ojochal). Playa Guapil is virtually free of people and extends as far as the eye can see in both directions, definitely worth a visit and a walk. Also take the time to drive to Ojochal and go to Citrus Restaurant, the food is amazing, fresh seafood, great drinks and desserts in a jungle setting along side a stream.
We will definitely go back and recommend without hesitation Manu Villas. Thanks Alex and Grace for creating this paradise!!
