OK..generally we like to avoid the larger "chains". We enjoy the uniqueness of smaller, independent places. This one is why - it's truly a gem in the desert! We - two old couples - had booked two rooms for three nights and were really delighted. Having booked ahead we had been given two adjoining rooms on the end of the units.

This motel's run the way it should be! It's an excellent price value and the rooms are very large, clean and well appointed. EVERY thought has been given to the customer's comfort: hooks on doors, dimmer lights in the bath (as well as FULL SIZED medicine cabinets); marvelous, warm, propane gas furnaces in each room (which are double sided and also open into the bathroom! Watch these for small children though as they do get hot.) Bedding is new, very comfortable pillow-top mattresses and all the linens are bright and clean (OK ....perhaps a few frays here or there but CLEAN). Floors are also clean.

The reception area is small but bright and friendly. The staff are truly super and really will go out of their way to help you or get you what you need. Micros and frigs are in the rooms but they will find a coffeemaker (and fixings) for you if you ask. When we reported a bad cable connection to our TV it was corrected the next morning and we were kept fully informed about more work they would do the next day on an unsecured line. No breakfast was advertised for the time we were there but - guess what - coffee & donuts appeared every morning outside the office - not great donuts - but still a nice touch.

The exterior of the motel is very well kept - no problems. Because, however, they do rent seasonal space to RV's you will see several parked around in odd spots. Again - no problems though.

Tombstone is a fun oriented town and Trailrider's location is just great for seeing everything and still getting a decent night's sleep.

Looking for a motel we came across Trail Riders Inn. Room was great, clean and comfortable. Could sit outside the room and admired the mountains. The motel was adorned with thousands of tiny lights at night. The English owner, Paul (who in an effort to develop an American accent had developed an Australian one) was very friendly and helpful and made a point of telling us to show our motel key in local restaurants to get 10% discount - it worked! We only intended to stay one night, but stayed an extra one. Highly recommended for those wanting something more individualistic, and better value for money, compared with the chain motels.

I have stayed at the trailrider twice on cross country road trips. I have found the accommadations to be excellent. On 2nd trip I went out of my way just to stay there again. I am planning another trip cross country and will make same plan. Paul "English Johnny" to some locals was a delight and full of tips for dining & taverns. You wont be disappointed...D Redden.........West Virginia

The Trailrider motel was a great find, we were recommended the motel by a friend who had met the new owner, Paul, who is from England, and he had viewed one of the rooms. On our arrival in Tombstone we went around the town to see other accommodation but were not impressed so we went to Trailriders, just off Allen Street, and viewed the room, we immediately booked for two nights as were very impressed by the standard of accommodation, large rooms with 2 large beds, opening windows, with mesh to stop any insects, which was lovely as we had a breeze blowing in the room which saved on the air conditioning. The room was extremely clean and well presented. There is a pool which was great to sit around and chat to other quests, and Paul the owner was very helpful and friendly. We actually enjoyed our stay so much we stayed on for another 6 days. On our travels in the states, over the last 8 years, we have stayed in quite a number of Motels, ranging from mom and pop's and chains, from expensive to cheap, so we can say without reservation that Trailfinders is one of the best Motels for quality and cleanliness we have stayed in. The beds are so comfortable and the Motel is in a quiet location that a good nights sleep is guaranteed. It is close to the main streets and is in walking distance to most of the local bars, try Ringo's bar its great.
