“EXCEPTIONAL STAFF & LOCATION”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

I visited this hotel in January 2014 and was amazed. Two months before my trip I had plenty of questions about not only the hotel, but about the area in general since it would be my first time in Arizona. David was exceptional about answering all of my questions. 3 days before my arrival I called with more questions and Ryan was very helpful as well and told me what to expect weather wise. Between David and Ryan help I was even more excited to visit the hotel and area. Upon arrival Adriana assisted me and gave me a great room with a nice view. The rooms are the nicest and more modern I've ever been to at a Residence Inn. Being a woman I loved the bathroom with all the bright lights, and mirrored closet doors! The colors of the room were perfect. Of course I forgot my toothbrush and Zach at the desk was very friendly and asked about my day/stay. I loved Arizona so much I am trying to move there within the next year. It is nicely located near ASU, the stadium, and right off Mill Ave which is explosive at night with all the night life. I will be back to Arizona in March and will be staying at the hotel for sure! I even got the front desk a little something for all of there amazing customer service.

This is a great hotel, as so many of the other reviews have stated for the price. The rooms are incredible, staff extremely helpful, and location is dynamite! On a recent business trip, rather than pack/unpack/repack several times during the week I instead elected to stay at this centrally located property.

The hotel came through with my requests (High Floor/Quiet Room). The location of the hotel can not be beat (Mill Ave is one block away - Awesome restaurant choices here!) I even visited the workout room and it was perfect (Clean equipment/well maintained/TV monitors on each piece). Next time I stay, I'll even bring my suit (The pool on the top of the property overlooks the mountain by ASU with the big "A" on it and has the flame-pit at night!)

The only downside to this property seems to be the Manager's idea of what a Manager's Reception is. I recommend a quick call to the Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/River North Manager to tell you how it's done! Here's what he'll tell you:

- Serve good food (heavy app's)
- Provide alcohol (wine/beer)
- Have friendly staff members rotating around

To only have a "Reception" a couple nights a week with a few blocks of cheese and no alcohol defeats the community spirit of a Residence Inn (The soda machine wasn't even working!)

On future trips... Even with this in mind I'd still elect to stay here for the price/value/location!

Room Tip: Request a high floor and quiet room... They're awesome!

The best hotel I have ever stayed at this price. The room is clean and quiet. The bed is comfortable. We have two TVs in our room, saves me some fight at night. The parking is very easy. They have a parking garage next to it. Definitely will go again next time I visit Tempe.

The Residence Inn Tempe Downtown was the perfect choice for a business stay. The hotel is brand new and is completely different from older Residence Inn's. It has a very colorful and classy decor versus the vibe of visiting your grandparents house with. Parking is easy in the parking garage. It is located right next to the ASU campus, and is an easy walk to lots of restaurants and bars. Tempe is an easier place to stay than downtown Phoenix. It is nice to stay in a larger room with a full fridge and stove.

Complimentary breakfasts and nightly receptions were a treat. The free wifi worked well.

Thank you for your great review. You're right, this Residence Inn offers all the ammeniites of a 'standard' Residence Inn (breakfast, social hour, large rooms, kitchens, etc) but it is anything but a 'standard' hotel! We are so excited to be open here in the heart of Tempe. Thank you for staying with us, we look forward to hosting you on your next stay in the area.

This is a great hotel in the heart of Downtown Tempe. The rooftop pool and hot tub are awesome; the view is spectacular.

This is a newly constructed property with spacious rooms and lovely decorations. It has 11 floors and an attached parking garage.

Staff are 100% friendly. Make sure to talk with Indira or Ryan if you go. You will be delighted!

Room Tip: You might ask for a one-bedroom with a balcony although the rooftop gives you a panoramic view of th...

We live in Northern AZ and came down to do last minute Christmas shopping and to take the kiddos to zoolights. We had 4 adults and 3 small kids with us. The two bedroom suite was perfect. It is very new, modern and clean with a lot of space. The staff was very friendly. You can't beat the location. Super close to Tempe marketplace and about 10 minutes from Scottsdale fashion square.

Bottom Line: We loved our stay, highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again w/o any reservation.

Our family of three stayed here for several nights over the Christmas holiday. The staff were super accommodating and friendly (fun to chat with) and knowledgeable on the area. The hotel is super clean (my pet peeve) and quite new and this is reflected not only in the lobby area but also in the rooms. The lobby area has a room with two computers and printers-perfect for printing out boarding passes & surfing the web. There is also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel which we loved. There are several semi-private sitting areas in the lobby with their own TV's Coffee & hot water for tea are always available. The hot bfast which is served from 7-9am is the best I've seen anywhere and includes self-made waffles (plus toppings like whipped cream, chocolate chips, chopped walnuts, syrup), scrambled eggs (w/toppings like salsa & shredded cheese), sausage hash, oatmeal (w/toppings like brown sugar, raisins, chopped walnuts), bagals, toast, muffins, yogurt & fresh fruit, orange & apple juice and fresh coffee. There are always plenty of two daily newspapers-local & national to relax in the lobby and read. Two nights per week there are manager receptions where treats are served. One we attended had ice cream, a variety of holiday cookies and fruit cake.

We stayed on the 8th floor with a lovely view of airport in the distance and city lights at night. The room had a perfect little kitchen/eating area plus writing desk, couch and lights everywhere including reading lights at both beds. We had two queen beds and each had it's own large screen tv on the dresser in front of it. There were plenty of plug-ins for recharging devices. It was unclear when rooms were cleaned and one day we missed it by having our "don't disturb" notice out at the wrong time. We were given extra towels & feather pillows when we requested them (but they weren't in the room when we arrived as we had requested on our reservation). The beds & bedding was perfect. Our room was super quiet and we only once saw someone else in an elevator though the breakfast area was quite busy in the morning. We didn't try the cook-top but the frig, freezer (w/ice maker) and dishwasher all worked wonderfully. The staff even loaded the dishwasher when we left dirty dishes in the sink!
The pool was heated enough that we were able to use it in December which we loved. It was a bit chilly once going in but after swimming around a bit, we warmed up and loved it. The hot tub/jacuzzi was very nice. There were towels pool-side and many chaise loungers as well as a couple of large tables where we could sit & eat a meal (we got carry-out) or play a game. Unfortunately the gas firepit wasn't working when we arrived and it sounded like it hadn't been working for a while and was full of cigarette butts.
The area is super convenient and just a block or two from a large variety of chain & independent restaurants. It is also across the street from a bus station and a bike rental shop where we rented bikes for the day. It's also near "A" Mountain which is a steep but short hike up a small mountain. It was about 30 min to a nearby mall (we needed to buy swim goggles & a pr of tennis shoes), the Phoenix Zoo and other activities. They were running a special deal on pricing so we got a killer deal. Full price would have been a bit much for us but for what a visitor receives in return, still a fair price. We had a rental car and were able to park in a covered garage which was connected to the hotel. We really can't say enough good things about this hotel. It made for a wonderfully, relaxing mini-vacation.

Room Tip: Our room on 8th flr was super quiet. Pool is on 11th flr.
