Description: Monti’s La Casa Vieja est. 1871 – 140 years old and still going…. Family owned and operated for over 54 years, Monti’s offers gracious hospitality and great food at reasonable prices. Built in 1871, Monti’s La Casa Vieja (“The Old House”) has a unique western atmosphere. Originally Tempe’s founding pioneer home, Monti’s has been carefully restored to reveal foot thick adobe walls, river rock in the floors and even a fountain in one of the many large dining rooms. Guests can dine in the very room where Sen. Carl Hayden, “The most important person in Arizona history”, was born in 1877. Known for our steaks but even more known for our freshly baked roman bread – it will keep you coming back for more. Monti’s is just a few short steps from the METRO Light Rail stop in downtown Tempe.

Great historical location with good food. The roman bread with butter is so yummy and has been for years. Great lunch prices. One of the oldies but still a goodie.

Stopped in for lunch while on a brief visit to the Tempe area. Wait staff was awesome, atmosphere was rich with area history and the food was quite good. I endulged in the prime rib tacos with some horseradish sauce on the side - highly recommend the dish! Oh, and the Roman Bread as a starter is a must, I think they use to call it Rosemary bread?

Great Steaks, great service. Beautiful old building with lots of history. We have never had a bad meal here. The Prime Rib was wonderful.

The filet is outta this world! The history of this place alone is worth the visit. Be sure to take advantage of that & look around. Also, very resonable prices for a steakhouse!

We dined on Prime Rib special night. They were cooked to perfection and delicious. Loved the mac and cheese. We sat at the bar and had excellent service.
