“Don't make it a destination”

Well, we were on our way to Mesa Verde from Canyon de Chelly so made a brief stop. The admission charge was a bit of a turn-off but it was our choice to enter. The rows of surrounding crafts booths made the stop more interesting and it was fun to chat with the artisans. The monument itself is just a "plaque" on the ground but of course you HAVE to stand there and have photos taken! Know that it's in the middle of nowhere and just take it for what it is and no more.

“Only one”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

This is the only spot in the United States where 4 states meet in such a fashion and has been on our Bucket list for many years. Visited the Native American vendors and chose some pieces of jewelry for my collection. Enjoyed taking pictures in 4 states at one time even though the pavement was very hot to touch.

“Don't go out of your way for this”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

It was kinda fun for the photo op with the kids. We did the thing where we were standing in all four states at once. But I would not go out of my way to do it. It is a barren and desolate area and very, very hot in June but I guess it is the desert so heat is to be expected. It was 3 bucks a person so 12 bucks for our family. Not really sure it was worth the pictures we took. There really was not much else there. We will not be stopping if we are ever in the area again.

“Upgraded and much better.”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

I had been to the four corners 4+ years ago and it was plane concrete with the four corners in the middle. Now, they have added a lot around it which makes it better. They have authentic Indian jewelry and clothing with post cards for sale now and they have added handicap ramps for people to see the sight at a higher level.

“Build fence and charge admission.”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

This is a small spot in the middle of nowhere, just another of those places I read about as a child and visited as an adult. However the guard shack, gate and $3.00/each cost of admission doesn't seem worth what it actually is.

At the end, you have to do it!
