Cool down in the nice water after a long hike and watch all the brave kids who jump down from the top of the waterfall.

The first falls on the trail from the village are the New Navajo Falls--the old ones having gone with the flood of 2008. Although they are a bit off the trail, they are lovely--wider than the other two sets of falls. But there is still unstable ground, so it's better to continue to the creek if you need a cool-off dip.

The Falls flow mostly horizontal, and are one of the most unique ones I have seen. Con- couldn't get close enough to them.

The flood of August 18, 2008 moved the Havasu Creek channel from the west to the east side of the canyon, drying Navajo up, putting all of Havasu Creek over Fiftyfoot Falls. A lot of sediment and rock laid down by previous flood events and the vegetation covering it went downstream. Havasu Creek flows in a channel it's not been in for a long time. This stretch from Fiftyfoot to Havasu Falls will revegetate. Meanwhile travels have a chance to visit an awe-inspiring demonstration of water's force. Two new sweet little falls are downstream from Fiftyfoot, and the Havasu Falls Trail, for now, has been rerouted to follow the new creek course.
