Hele Barton Farm Holiday Cottages
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Our stay at Hele Barton in October was the second visit of the year.In March we stayed in the Cider Barn which was very comfortable. The visit in October was an upgrade to a different level -- bearing in mind that the Cider Barn was excellent--- this accomodation was something else ! The giant 4 poster bed was nearly too large for me ( Being a midget at 6 foot 5 inches tall !) We were totally spoilt by the whirlpool bath, and the log burner stove made for cosy evenings watching the television. It was one of those places that you were wishing you get back to,forget those Cornish beaches ,the Hayloft is 'Where it's at !'.
Rachael and family always had time to chat, ( that's because there were no problems to sort out )and even the dogs came to say hello.
All in all extremely enjoyable and can't wait to return next year.
Well done to all the people who made the week so enjoyable.

What can I say about this fabulous idle in North Cornwall? This is our 4th stay at Hele Barton. As a family we have been coming to Cornwall for 25 years every year nearly and never [ until we discovered Hele Barton, that is] have we ever revisited any holiday property.
The cottages are all to a superb standard and are very sympathetically done, using oak throughout and high quality finishes. The bedrooms are all slate tiled, most en-suit and good power-showers even some have a jacuzzi!
This time we came with 2 lots of family with partners and my best friend and her daughter, along with 2 dogs just for good measure. we stayed in the Harvest Barn (which we watched being converted 2 years ago}. WOW. is this a top of the tree conversion! the kitchen has all equipment you need including the whopping great American fridge/freezer with its own ice maker (the family loved this feature) also a kitchen range doublr cooker.
Rachel suggested to us that we could have a supermarket home delivery, which we did. And bless her cotton socks, it all arrived before we did and Rachel and her team of elves had put it all away for us. Now that is beyond the call of duty! Thank you.
The walks are incredible - a short one around the lake area, or around the large acreage of farm or even down to the Penhalam 14th century ruins down the lane. It is a working farm and some care has to be taken and respect the countryside rules. But it really is such a dog friendly area. you will find most pubs/cafes are happy to let well behaved pets into their abodes. Widemouth beach is only 4 miles away also with its dedicated dog beach.
Rachel is a font of knowledge. if there is a good pub, a play, best shopping, what to do on a rainy day..........ask rachel. if there is any problems (rare but things can go awry at times) they will do their best to put it right.
As you can guess, I cannot praise Hele Barton high enough. I am not related in any way nor have I known the family apart from our holiday visits. but please visit and see just what you are missing.

We stayed in the Hayloft which is perfect for a couple on a quiet romantic break. The accommodation itself was first rate, comfortable, attractive and the conversion was clearly of the highest standard. Rachel and her family (and the host of friendly dogs) were incredibly welcoming and on hand with all manner of help and information on the surrounding area. The Farm itself is in a beautiful location and within easy distance of the stunning Cornish coast, so is perfect for walkers and surfers alike.
For a perfect getaway we cannot recommend Hele Barton Farm highly enough, and are already planning a return visit for next year.

We stayed here at short notice in the newly converted Harvest Barn. The upstairs room is a wonderful living space with stunning views across the Cornish countryside to the island of Lundy. The 4 ensuite rooms were ideal for a family with young adults. There is a garden and private parking. Although the other cottages are right by you we were totally unaware of them. The owner was lovely and although we did not take our dogs it seems to be very dog friendly and perfect for dog lovers who bring their canine friends on holiday with them.
Really recommend it.
