“A beautiful place to stay!!!!!”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

La Hacienda de Sonoita is a beautiful place to stay while in the southern part of Arizona. Tom & Cheryl are great hosts and their two labs are wonderful greeters. The B & B is decorated in a style very appropriate for this area. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms very inviting. The sunrise the morning we were there was stunning. They truly allow you to feel quite at home at their B & B. We stayed there with a group of friends and there was plenty of room to relax in the main part of the place. Tom very nicely made us a fire so we sat and talked and sipped wine late into the night. The breakfast was fantastic. They said they try to customize the breakfast by the guests they have. We had delicious eggs, hashbrowns, turkey bacon, homemade granoloa, and fruit. Just wonderful. We will certainly stay there again if we are back in that area.

For a laid back, relaxing stay, try La Hacienda de Sonoita. We stayed (two couples) to avoid driving back to Tucson after dining at Overland Trout. We had a great twin-bedded room (our choice) and our friends a queen room, both quiet, well appointed in a western motif. Very clean, supplied with great towels, soap, bedsheets. We had a small heater that took the chill off during the night (this is, after all, the desert). What makes a good B&B? - the people who own it, and it shows. Breakfast was more than good food, it is like, in our case, a family visit (not sure they would adopt us).

Food, fun, location, this has it all. Stay and enjoy.

Dear Lightpackers, your description of a home away from home is exactly how we feel. Having a delightful "family" breakfast together talking about the world, life and everyone's unique experiences is just the best time. Sometimes it's lunch time before we leave the breakfast table. We have learned many things and heard many great stories from our guests and have had many serious and intense discussions about a wide range of topics. Those days confirm we did the right thing being here. Adoptions maybe possible.

An all around great experience. We stayed here while wine tasting to celebrate our one year anniversary/ Valentine's Day celebration and it was a wonderful accent to a great weekend. It is within twenty minutes of 5 wineries and had a perfect centralized location for local restaurants for dinner. The room had a queen bed and was tastefully decorated in Western ranch regalia and accents. Tom and Cheryl were great hosts, the room was very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with French Toast, Chicken Sausage, homemade Granola, Greek Yogurt, and a ton of fresh fruit. We had a great conversation over breakfast with the other guests, and afterwards we stayed and had a great conversation with Tom and Cheryl. It was a great place to stay and we left with the promise to return.

We enjoyed three nights at La Hacienda in January. This was our second trip to the area. Tom & Cheryl were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed visiting with them & the other guests at breakfast. The breakfasts are different each day & are quite a treat - sourdough pancakes & sausage, Southwest style eggs, breakfast burritos & always Cheryl's yummy granola with yogurt & fruit.

We stayed in the Ranch Room which is complete with well chosen cowboy decor. The common room is complete with fireplaces for cozy relaxing as you visit, read or play games. The shelves are filled with a great selection of reading choices, including some historical informaiton for the region.

The location is perfect to serve as the starting point for your wine-tasting adventures. If you prefer other pursuits it is only a short drive to Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone, Ramsey Canyon or Patagonia.

Be sure to check our Chery's photography on display at the Hacienda.

We will definitly plan to go back again. The clear night sky is perfect for star-gazing & astro photography.

What a delightful experience. Tom and Cheryl were excellent hosts. The room was extremely clean and wonderfully decorated. The breakfast was delicious and it was so great that the owners sat with us and we learned some history of the area. We would definitely go back. The only downside was that we only had queen bed choices.

Our visit was everything we expected. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Owners were out of town but Emily took care of us and did a wonderful job with breakfast and was fun to talk to. Enjoyed sitting in the common areas and looking up at the stars at night. Very convenient location in the middle of everything. Like some others we did not bring shampoo but a quick trip to town and $1.99 later that was taken care of. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Grand Canyon room and it was great.
