“Our stay here with a Road Scholar group was very nice.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Fairfield Inn & Suites as part of a Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) birding adventure in Southern AZ. Our room and bathroom were spotless, with a good shower, the mattress was comfortable, and we had no complaints about this facility at all. The breakfast service was better than many budget hotels and there was plenty of choice. The management was friendly and helpful and the hotel was centrally located next to a shopping center. We would definitely return to this hotel if we find ourselves in the Sierra Vista area in the future.

This hotel was nice. The rooms were small but clean, quiet and comfortable. It had a nice pool. The breakfast bar was a bonus. It had a good variety of foods and was well maintained. Close to the mall and restaurants. Good value for the money.

If you’re a fan of Trip Advisor like I am then you know that sometimes the rankings are just wrong for some reason and this is a prime example of that. It makes absolutely no sense that this fine hotel can have a lower ranking than Sierra Suites since there is really no comparison in my opinion. The Fairfield is a modern, well appointed hotel in a new section of town while the Sierra Suites is a much older hotel with only a few upgrades and it’s location is in an older not so nice area. The rooms at Sierra Suites are smaller, outdated, and simply not in the same league with the Fairfield. At Sierra Suites anyone can walk in off the street and right up to your room door while the Fairfield has a modern design with secure enclosed hallways only accessible by passing through the lobby and past the front desk. Once again, no comparison.

Breakfast was included and with fresh waffles, cereal, muffins, etc. We always got to breakfast late so I don't know what else might have been offered earlier. The Japanese woman working in the breakfast area was so helpful and kind, simply a wonderful person. We spent a few bucks more for a suite and enjoyed having a little extra room. We were in town to go bird watching in the area and spent two nights here in early May and we would gladly stay here again. It was an all around great expirience with no complaints.

Room Tip: spend a few exta bucks for a suite

My wife and I recently spent a week at this hotel using it as home base for day trips around the southern Arizona area. I have stayed at this hotel on several previous visits on business trips. First and foremost, the staff at this hotel is second to none in the chain hotel business. You will not find a more accomodating, friendly, and service oriented group of people anywhere in this business. Other than some inconsiderate young soldiers staying there on the weekend (the staff actually had to "evict" some of them), the only negative I would point out is that the hotel is located next to a group of chain restaurants with bars that cater to a late night (early morning) set of biker regulars who close those bars every night. And, you guessed it, roar by the hotel on the way out to the street. Because the weather here is good for much of the year, you will likely get these nitwits almost every night. You cannot get a room on anyside of the hotel to aviod this because it is surrounded by either main streets or the nearby mall access roads. Trapped in a world of late night Harley noise folks. Did I mention their buds with the nuclear car stereos cruising by? Crank the room fan a loud as possible and keep the window closed is about the best tactic. BTW, room doors slam dreadfully hard here. No doubt about when your nearby fellow guests are coming and going. If you want to stay at a Marriott property, you can likely avoid the bar traffic by staying just up the street at a Town Place Suites just behind the Home Depot. Nice hotel, great staff, but problem location.

Room Tip: recommend top floor & no soldiers nearby

Very easy to find, tons of shopping and food very close. Free parking, free wifi, free breakfast (more than just continental). I wad visiting Tombstone and other surrounding ghost towns and this served as a fairly central base. Staff was polite but nit very friendly, upon checkout I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come to the front desk.
