“Award winning museum”

It is actually three buildings, with a gift shop in one. Many awards won over years make this the museum to visit over any others in Cochise County. The Intelligence museum portion makes it unique.

“great museum...full of history!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012

this is a great place to go for an afternoon of exploring and learning...I have taken my children and visiting family to the museum every chance I get...It is free with donations accepted...therefore it is an excellent way to spend some quality time on a budget! You get to learn about early days in Arizona and you get to visit historic Fort Huachuca...the Army's best kept secret!

“Great intro to life in the 1880's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2012

This museum is in 3 parts. Two of them portray many aspects of life in the high desert of Arizona in the 1890-1920 timeframe. The third is more recent information about the Army's intelligence branch. If you are in the area it's a must-go location. It is in the heart of a National Historic Landmark District of an old cavalry post. Unlike most similar NHLD's, this one is still being used and lived in on a daily basis.

“best in the west”

kind of dated with mannequins in the displays. Lots of stuff that I didnt expect. Small portion on the fort's history of African Americans was nice.

“History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

There are actually three parts of the museum. The main part of the museum is located in what I believe used to be the old post hospital. A second nearby museum is in what was the old post theatre. Both of these deal with the fort history, from its founder Colonel Whitfield to today. The fort was origianlly manned by Buffalo Soldiers. Both museums tell of the daily lives (both on the fort and on patrols) of the soldiers and officers who lived there. The thrid museum tells of the forts historical role it's had with military intelligence. They have a gift shop which has some unique southwest art for sale.
