Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill
Ranked #32 of 170 Restaurants in Sedona
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: $35 - $65
Description: Mariposa - Latin Inspired Grill is designed for the ultimate customer experience. The views from the patios and dining rooms could be the finest world wide. If that wasn't enough - customers will enjoy browsing the restaurant and the grounds enjoying large scale art or star gazing in the dark Sedona night. The cuisine is Latin Inspired, primarily from Chef Dahl's interactions with chef's in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Chef Lisa Dahl and her team focus on premium ingredients and many of the herbs are grown in the herb gardens in the restaurant courtyard. All meats and seafoods come from the very best sources - such as Allen Brothers and Beelers for the meats. For years Lisa has insisted on all organic vegetables from Arizona. The restaurant is equipped with QSC speakers and particular attention has been paid to acoustics in the dining rooms and the bar. There isn't a bad seat in the restaurant.

I visit this restaurant everytime I'm in Sedona. It's good for lunch, happy hour and dinner. The chicken tortilla soup is excellent as are the yuca fries. The ambience, food and service are all superb.

We were in Sedona for a day trip from Peoria, AZ while vacationing there. Everything about this place is breathtaking. Upscale fine dining in a beautifully designed restaurant in a setting that is memorable. We had croquettes and empanadas as appetizers. Yum! She had the pork chop and I the veal chop for entrees. Perfect! Delicious and well proportioned. Apple tart for dessert with a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Arturo was our server and he was a pleasure; attentive, professional and a very personable young man.

The proprietor Lisa, has a very interesting and compelling back story, and while we didn’t have the opportunity to sing her praises in person, we gave her a higher compliment by going to Pissa Lisa the next day for lunch, and a daytime view of Mariposa afterword for coffee and dessert Thursday afternoon, prior to our drive back to Peoria. Heading back to Miami tomorrow, and we’ll be talking about this experience for time to come, until we come again. Thanks Mariposa, you made our inaugural trip to Sedona a memorial culinary experience “sandwiched” in between the fabulous scenic experiences of this wonderful city.

Ron And Stephanie.

I have this really bad habit of reading all the 1 star reviews first to see what people are saying. I almost did not go here- but then my husband has this habit of just pulling into the driveway if he happens to see a restaurant that comes our way and we didn't have to make reservations-- so that's how I ended up in Mariposa,.I even debated after I sat in the car & read the reviews & argued about it- but then my hubby said"what the heck just give it a try".The scenic views with all the possible rock formation around it, the ambience inside and the food were all superb. We were seated promptly- had a courteous waiter, and the food- yucca fries with a dipping sauce, fish sandwich, quesadilla and finally their muerte por chocolate- was to literally die for- a rich chocolate cake with sauce over it and some candied lemon & gelato in a chocolate cup- a great ending to a holiday in Sedona.

Top quality food, service, location and ambience! Our waiter Cesar was the epitome of professional service without being "stuffy". The food was amazing - try the fried avocado appetizer. A bit pricey but we didn't mind it one bit because we got what we paid for - excellent food and excellent service. This restaurant got it all right.

Wow views and fantastic food. The place to eat at when in Sedona. From the moment you pull up to the restaurant you are in awe of the views and the restaurant. Our entire experience was amazing. They have an extensive wine collection. We ordered several appetizers, fried avocados and empanadas with chimichuri sauce. Our main course was the lamb. It was flavored to perfection. Their side dish selection is extensive so that there is something for everyone. They have several seating options which makes it nice. Bar area, outside area and main dining area.
