“Views and Proximity to Oak Creek”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

Visted Sedona with my Aunt and Uncle from NY. Booked a regular room based on the Tripadvisor reviews - it was very nice and had great views of red rock and a nice outside patio with a fountain nearby. One of the benefits of booking on this property is access to the resort located just down from the property and access to Oak Creek, which is beautiful, wooded, quiet, and tranquil. The resort has a full gym and pool.

Once we walked down to the Creek, we decided to upgrade our room to the Villa. The Villas are 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 half bath town homes/ time shares. They are a little dated, but clean, comfortable and quaint. We went to the local grocery store that evening and grilled steaks on the community gas grill area - clean, and newer.

The villas had two fireplaces - which we used - and a jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom. The other residents were all very quiet and friendly.

Also, the property is within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants; lots of choices. The costs are higher than I would have liked, but given the beautiful location and scenery, well worth it and I would pay it again - could not say the same about the Disney Grand Californian.

I am dragging my husband with me next time.

We stayed in the main hotel for 2 nights after cancelling our reservation at the Grand Canyon. Room was comfortable and clean, with a superb view off of the patio. Because of the exterior exposures the room could get a little noisy. Front desk staff was very helpful.

Excellent free breakfast. Location is great, right in the middle of the tourist shopping area.

We spent one night at Best Western in Sedona for our anniversary. Lovely room and great accommodations. Would stay here again and recommend it highly! The location of the Arroyo Roble Hotel was fantastic for taking in the shops and restaurants of Sedona.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2013

We spent a week in Sedona last week at the Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble. To say I was hesitant was an understatement. We usually stay at more upscale hotels. Not that there is anything wrong with Best Westerns, but generally they do not afford us the views or amenities we enjoy while on vacation. We paid extra money for a room that had a fireplace and supposedly an exceptional view. We were in room 212. The 5 room in this part of the building (which is separate from the main hotel) have their own dedicated parking spaces. Nice feature.

The view was disappointing. Although you could see the magnificent red rocks from our terrace (on the 2nd floor), you could not see them from any other part of the room (including the bed) unless you were standing by the door of the terrace. That was a bummer - we really wanted the view!

The bed was fine, but absolutely THE WORST pillows I have ever experienced. I asked for a firmer pillow - they brought the same pillow type over and over. I stopped asking.

The fireplace was a nice feature. The thermostat in the room however was awful. The a/c went on and off - and when it was on, it was freezing and blowing directly on us if we were in bed, and when it was off, it was too hot. Bad, very bad climate control.

The housekeeping left much to be desired. They leave (or suppose to leave) a form everyday for you to fill out and make any special requests. We wanted 2 additional towels every day. For the first 3 days, we had to continually ask for them. Then they left 8! We asked for wine glasses. They were never washed and were left where we left them. We washed them. After requesting twice that fresh wine glasses be put in the room every day, they got it. There were various mix-ups/mishaps with housekeeping. It wasn't very good. But then, we were in a Best Western. That said, we were paying approximately $300/night (including taxes)!!! For that price, I did expect more.

A breakfast was included. This was a bright spot. I was shocked. Every day! It really was excellent considering it was a buffet. Some sort of egg casserole or frittata every day (different every day of the week for the week we stayed), scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, granola, yogurt, english muffins, bread, fruit, juices, etc. It was really some of the best buffet breakfast I have had at a motel/hotel of this caliber. And the chef was excellent and was running around all the time. As was the people who cleared the tables. They worked very hard and it showed. The only complaint I would have is one day we got there at 8:15 and the specialty egg dish was already gone. Bad miscalculation.

Front desk services were adequate. However when we did call for towels at the beginning of our stay, they were very responsive.

The location couldn't be beat. We were able to walk to dinner every night which we enjoy.

Overall, our stay was nice. Nothing special. But nice. And not necessarily worth the price we paid ($2,000 for the week).

Room Tip: Try room 213 if you are willing to spend the extra money. The view will be better than 212 which wa...

Hotel was over rated as an upscale property even in the BW Chain. Nothing special about it and fairly high priced, given the level of accomodations provided. It is convenient to many shops and restaurants. Parking can be an issue when the lots fill up! Was unable to connect to wi-fi in the room, which is not normally a problem for me so I can only assume it was a Network issue!

My husband and I had a king with fireplace and private patio. It was lovely and romantic. Location was great for us because we could walk to shops and restaurants. We used the outdoor pool. Buffet breakfast was plentiful with very good selections. Breakfast room had outdoor seating with gorgeous views. You could walk down to the creek on the hotel property and have a BBQ or picnic.
Bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
I would stay here again when in the area.
