“Desert-yes, Quails-no; Good hotel-yes, Sedona-not really!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

I stayed for 2 nights in Desert Quail Inn, and overall it was a good stay. From the pictures on the hotel website, I thought it would be in a desert with nothing around but luckily it is surrounded by stores, gas stations, and close to restaurants. I drove from Phoenix airport and tried to set my GPS to the hotel address but the GPS couldn't find it. So, I set the GPS for Highway 179 in Sedona, and after I got to Hwy 179, I called the hotel for directions and I was told that I was only 3 blocks away from the hotel. I think the reason my GPS didn't pick up the address was either because the hotel is actually in the village of Oak Creek or because my GPS didn't have an updated map of the area. The drive took about and hour and forty five minutes from Phoenix.

As I am a light sleeper, when I checked-in I asked for a room away from the noise, and the lady at the reception gave me a room on the upper floor (there are only 2 floors), and I slept well both nights and was not disturbed. The rooms have a mini-fridge and a microwave, which came in very handy to buy and keep frozen food and microwave it. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and from the second floor one can get a nice view of the Red Rocks and the desert around. The scenic views and Red Rock parks within a few minutes drive and downtown Sedona is not far away, if one can get used to navigating the roundabouts. I think I counted 9 roundabouts to get to downtown Sedona, which has a Safeway, Walgreen and a lot of stores and restaurants.

The hotel doesn't have breakfast or a restaurant but there is a restaurant adjacent to the hotel where hotel customers can get 10% discount on meals. The hotel reception area doesn't even have any furniture to sit but has a PC for hotel customers to use. The rooms have free wifi, which was good. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful to give me directions to places and even print me directions to take with me. Overall, I had a good stay.

Room Tip: If you would like a quiet room to sleep in or to have a nice view of the Red Rocks, ask for a room o...

We went to Sedona for a family reunion this May (2014) and chose the Desert Quail Inn. We found this hotel room very clean and comfortable. The management and employees were polite and helpful. The wifi was acceptable although they could use a business center. (This wasn't too big of an issue as the management was more than willing to print our boarding passes out when asked.) There are places to eat and drink, shopping, and a wonderful coffee shop all within walking distance. The rates were very good as compared to the others in the area. The room was clean and well kept as was the bathroom. The pool was clean and heated with ample towels at poolside. Although not in walking distance, the ride to the tourist area (Uptown Sedona) is brief and enjoyable. We would consider this hotel if staying in Sedona again. Thanks to the staff for the extra efforts to make our stay enjoyable.

We just stayed here for several days while visiting Sedona and we enjoyed this motel. It was nice being down the road from the main Sedona craziness, but just a short beautiful drive away. The rooms were updated and clean, and the bed was a comfortable memory foam mattress (made by the owners father). There is a grocery store and cafe behind the motel, and though I don't necessarily recommend the cafe, it was convenient to have a grocery so close. There is a fridge and microwave in the room. The best restaurant around is Cucina Rustica, just a short walk down the road and delicious! We ate there three out of the four nights we were in town, the other restaurant we went to was Elote, also very good. The only drawback to this place was their wi-fi, which kept cutting in and out during our stay and sometimes not working at all. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again.

Away from all the hussle and bussle, this quiet motel fits the bill for nearby hiking, eating, and shopping. Rooms are spotless, parking is a breeze, courteous and knowledgeable staff, plus beautiful hills surround the motel. Just north are three places for hiking complete with easy access parking. Chapel of the Holy Cross is also a few miles north. The drive on 179 into or from Sedona proper is most lovely!

Room Tip: Rooms do not have a microwave; however, the refrigerator is a nice size. AC is quiet and easy to ad...

Hands down the cleanest place we stayed on our two-week vacation. Best overall value, half to twice as inexpensive as all the other places in Sedona. The rooms did not have a view, but by the time we got back to the room it was dark anyway. We found that you go sightseeing and then come back to the cleanest most comfortable room. Can't wait to go back. Don't spend money on a room with a view, get out of the room and go to the view!! Now doesn't that make more sense. Spend your money in the local shops and restaurants!

The Desert Quail Inn located just outside Sedona in Oak Springs is great value for money, well appointed, quiet and in a top location if you don't mind not being walking distance from the majority of restaurants etc.

There is a grocery store right behind the complex and a couple of other specialty stores.

The view up 179 North towards Sedona beats the views from Sedona itself. Really nice quiet spot. Very pleased, would recommend and happily return. Front desk staff very helpful.

Room Tip: If offered a wheelchair accessible room, think twice - the shower isn't very good for those who...

We stayed at the Desert Quail for three nights while visiting Sedona. The Desert Quail is the perfect budget option for those staying in the area. The Quail is clean, has nice beds, and has close, easy dining options. One can go to the supermarket next door for breakfast/lunch or dine at the Red Rock Cafe for a sit-down breakfast. Oak Creek was a lot quieter on the weekends than in the main area of Sedona. I highly recommend the Quail for budget travelers.

The Quail also has beautiful views of the red rock formations!
