“BIG PRICE, TERRIBLE ROOM & SECURITY”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2009

Booked upon recommendation by business owner in Sedona. Room was terribly small located under a stairwell. No view, no dead bolt for door, dirty carpets, very small bath room and over priced. Although centrally located to business district, not a good place for seniors to stay. Office does not open until 10am making it impossible for a third party to inquire if a guest is registered.

Located at the North end of Sedona, the motel offer no frills accomodations and you are well within walking distance of all the shops. Very clean and comfortable. It is nice not to have to walk down a hallway or corridor to exit the building. The owners are very nice people and are originally from Minnesota. Would I stay again? Most definitely and longer.
Overall rating; Great for us! Good value for the cost!

A friend recommended La Vista as she was there last Fall and we were certainly glad she did. It is on the very edge of town, away from the noise and lights. We had an upper room with balcony - spectacular views. Large room, bright and clean. Very friendly family run business. Nothing fancy but we were there to hike and the room was simply for sleeping and showering. No pool or restaurant - just a very nice quiet corner of town.

My husband and I arrived in Sedona late in the day, without a reservation, hungry and exhausted from a long day of driving. We were only planning on staying one night and leaving early the next morning, so we balked at paying the exorbitant prices of the several hotels where we stopped to enquire about lodging. Getting grumpy and frustrated, we remembered that we passed La Vista Motel on our way into town, so we checked it out. They had one room left at $89 night, which we thought was quite reasonable, after the $150.00 and up prices we'd encountered so far.

After checking in, considering our crankiness, we felt instantly relaxed. The room was great - large, clean, bright with scenic red rock views.. The bathroom had room to move. The bonus was our own private deck with table & chairs where we could watch the stars and enjoy a glass of wine (which we did immediately) and plan our day the next morning. The proprietors were extremely helpful in advising us on restaurants that the locals frequent, and even helped plan our hiking and touring adventures for the next day. We felt so comfortable that we decided to stay an extra day. No regrets. Had a great visit.

Oh, I almost forgot the downside...there was no blow dryer or coffee maker in the room. Oh well, somehow we managed to deal with it.

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at La Vista Motel in September, when we came to Sedona for the Raw Spirit Festival. It was a small and quaint family-run motel, with a relaxed atmosphere and a very friendly and helpful owner.

We booked room no. 20, which I was told was the best one. I fell in love with it as soon as we walked in the door! It was a bright, spotlessly-clean king room, on the first floor, with a corner window, shower and aircon. It also had its own private balcony. We sat there each morning in the sun, overlooking the red rocks. What bliss!

The motel did not serve breakfast, but there were restaurants a-plenty in uptown Sedona, which was within easy walking distance. Being the last building in the road, La Vista is close enough to the action, but also far enough away as to be secluded and quiet. Sedona is incredibly beautiful and clean, and has shops selling all sorts of lovely (and inexpensive) gifts, and jeep/Grand Canyon tour operators. We also stumbled upon a smoothie bar run by some lovely Korean ladies. They were offering holistic treatments, and gave the most delightful foot massage. It’s not a place for late-night partying though – the restaurants and bars all closed before 10pm!

I was very interested in the raw scene, and we easily found Café Bliss, which was only a few minutes away by car (via a couple of new roundabouts – be careful!). They have a beautiful garden! A few doors from there was another fantastic restaurant, the Olde Sedona Restaurant and Bar, with rooftop seating – what an amazing view! We loved their breaded cactus and sweet potato fries!

Being an independent motel, La Vista did not offer the amenities that some larger hotels might, such as swimming pool, breakfast, plush interior, etc. However, the overall standard of cleanliness and service was excellent, which is more important to us. The motel was also very conveniently situated, and in beautiful surroundings. We were also able to connect our laptop to the internet, using the password provided in the welcome book. We paid $112 per night, including tax, which we feel to be very reasonable.

We highly recommend La Vista Motel to fellow travelers keen to experience the delights of Sedona, and would love to go back again!

We are frequent travelers and have good luck with Trip Advisor reviews...after all, we are all in this together! This facility is too old and tired to be considered a good value, even at $79 per night. The owner is nice and the room was clean, however there were several negatives.

As advertised, there was a small microwave and refrigerator...but no coffee maker, hair dryer, or even an alarm clock.

Wireless internet was advertised but we were unable to connect with either of our two laptops due to security codes. This is a unique experience as we easily connect in dozens of locations. I was disappointed in the apologetic but inadequate response to this problem.

La vista motel is a small family owned hotel at the edge of uptown. it is an easy walk to the shops and restaurants. we stayed downstairs so our view of the red rocks was limited but for $69/night the price was right! our room was remenicent of a dorm room with painted cinder block walls and an old bathroom. it was very clean and the bed was pretty comforatable. the person working at the desk, who i think may have been the owner was quick to give us suggestions on dining and maps even though we were checking in shortly after hours. it met our needs just fine. my husband was dissapointed that there was no tv remote in our room. but since we went to bed shortly after dinner it didn't matter much. would definately stay again if i came back on a budget.
