Description: After ten dedicated years of serving the Sedona community and its visitors, the Barking Frog Grille will be closing on September 4th. After renovations to the building and the addition of a 700 sq. ft. dining patio offering great Red Rock views in West Sedona, the new concept of QUALITY KITCHEN + BAR will be introduced on September 21st. We are forever grateful to the Sedona community for its support and interest in the Barking Frog Grille, but are now equally enthusiastic about the opportunity to partner with Executive Chef Michael Clancy to bring you QUALITY KITCHEN + BAR.

My husband and I spent 5 days in Sedona, 9/10-9/14/07 and ate at this restaurant twice! We first tried this restaurant because we saw it listed in a Sedona area guide but we went back a second time because it was so good. There are multiple rooms and an outside patio. On our first visit we sat inside one of the more dimly lit dining rooms. And, on our second trip there we sat outside. Both rooms had great service and felt private.

We tried the taquitos for an appetizer, which came with 3 different sauces to try - from hot, spicy to sweet cactus. We also tried the Cocktail de Mariscos - like a ceviche in a tomato base. Both of these appetizers were enough for 2 and delicious. Our dinners were great too. My first dinner was the Barking Frog salad with carne asada (I'm still salivating!) and my second was the carne asada dinner (because that steak was so good!) with creamy polenta and vegetables. My husband had the burrito with carnitas which was enourmous. His second meal was the Chile Verde and Carnitas - described as pork 2 ways - fantastic. We also tried 1 dessert - the Barking Frog Sundae which was perfect to share - 2 scoops of ice cream, 2 churros topped with fudge and almonds.

What we particularly appreciated about this restaurant was that everything on their menu was fresh - including the seafood. They had multiple fresh seafood items on the menu, many of which were seasonal - like the fish tacos which were made with grouper because that was the local fresh fish. They also offered a spicy halibut entree (which they were all out of when we had our second dinner there), jumbo shrimp and red snapper.

All in all, I would highly recommend trying this restaurant when you're in Sedona - it's got great atmosphere (inside and out), great food and excellent service.

The Barking Frog is a very new restaurant in Sedona and we were lucky enough to eat there. The restaurant is a great place for carnivores and vegetarians alike and is a nice place for a casual dinner with friends. The skillet corn bread is amazing! We also got their tableside guacamole presentation as an appetizer. It was fun to watch, very fresh and good. I don't think it was great but it was nice to do once. I had the scallops which were really nice. The only downside was that it is a little expensive but hey, you're on vacation!

We waited a month since the Barking Frog opened to allow for early opening bugs to get worked out. The construction is finished in the main restaurant, and the second dining room 'The Reserve' will be opening on Sept 18th.
The remodeling of the building is really nice and the menu is a southwest cuisine. We tried a seafood appetizer that was excellent, but the real winner was the Roasted Red Pepper soup that was offered du jour along with their signature Albondigas. We also had the 'Black & Blue Salad' that was a delightful mix of greens with candied pecans, blue cheese and blackberries. Mrs Red Pony had the Carne Asada (flank steak) and it was tender and cooked perfectly. I tried the chef's signature Snapper Vera Cruz that includes capers, green olives, jalapenos, cilantro and lime with roasted potatoes and tomato-chardonnay broth. It was excellent. There were several other items on the menu that made it hard for us to choose, so we'll be going back again soon. We have enjoyed the Cowboy Club and the Silver Saddle Room for many years, and the Barking Frog continues in the same vein with fine service and creative cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant when you're visiting Sedona.

Title: Great Surprise! - Food is Awesome!
ID#: 8467184

Barking Frog is a new restaurant to Sedona (owned by the Cowboy Club).
We went expecting the normal mexican fare and were surprised by the
great atmosphere. Decor is beautiful. Gas lamps to welcome you and a
gas fire in the fireplace even in August.

Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Service was a tad slow, but
they had only been opened for 3 weeks. Our water glasses were never
empty. We ordered various menu items - all chef prepared dishes - each of
us (5) were very pleased with our meal. We enjoyed a laugh when a
neighboring table ordered the whole fish meal and it was delivered standing
up on the plate looking at everyone with a lime hat on! (we snickered
to ourselves along with the table next to us) We didn't want to offend
the young lady who had ordered this dish. She did seem to enjoy it.

We highly recommend this new dining experience in Sedona - give it a
try, you'll like it. (My teens all wanted a T-Shirt, but alas, they
don't have them - yet!) Enjoy!!
